HELP NEEDED: Ignition stuck on lock position

I dont think its a battery issue key seems to lock and unlock the car fine, but once in the starter button wont move from lock position not even to acc (with or without foot on the brake), has this happened to anyone before or anyone know a fix. I'm off home to try the spare key see if that works but failing that I'm out of ideas?!

Any help appreciated

Yep gearshift in park, i assumed it wouldnt go into lock position unless in park but double checked that also. Sly just recently changed the battery in my key fob at the last service 3 weeks ago, so i doubt its that battery but im going to go home and change it anyway to be sure

I had similar problem a while ago and it turned out to be the batteries in the tracker fob. It was a strange one but im not the first person its happened to.

I had this the other week in a car park in Liverpool. You try to start and nothing at all happens right even though you can get into the car? You haven't got a tracker and then not bothered renewing have you? Does dashboard light up but the car won't start?

I was in a car park with no mobile signal so the car (for no reason) disabled itself and the fix is to dismantle the passenger footwell by the door hinge and remove the tracker fuse(s) depending on model. Leave for ten minutes then reinsert then it starts.

Mr Litchfield and his team were amazing as always as I had to keep running out of car park and send photos for advice then back in (I was in Liverpool so had to explain to everyone why I was in a suit, head first upside down in my footwell stealing my own car).

Thanks ROG, i'm going to give that a try, seems to make the most likely option.

When i bought the car i didnt realise it had a tracker on it until Tracker themselves called me up and asked me if i wanted to take over subscription which i have but not received anything following.

I'm going to look for this fuse in the passenger footwell

No problem. Start with removing the foot kick plate door plastic from rear of door forward then the plastic element which curves round inside footwell and carpet. Fixed in which some tabs which unscrew if I remember correctly.

Once you get this out then the fuses are in a bundle (might be electrical taped together) and you might need long nosed pliers to get the fuse out. The tracker one should be relatively obvious as the 'odd one out' if Cobra then I think there is only one but apparently some have two. Mine was yellow if that helps.

Wait ten minutes then reinsert and try engine.

Good luck! Don't do it in the dark.....

ROG all i could find in the passenger footwell was this, nothing yellow there and wasnt sure what to take out, nothing obviously stood out as being different.

Any suggestions?

Heard something that this may be related to a steering lock failure, but could be wrong! 2009 models have had steering lock problems, do you know if yours has been updated?

No mine hasnt been fixed, I hope that isnt the case as the thought of taking my car to Nissan makes my skin crawl i have only had to speak to Nissan once in my 3 years of ownership and they wanted to charge me 145 to rest my TMS sensors after i had a flat tyre and repaired it myself - i knew then i would only get it serviced by Sly/Iain.

I'm going to go back tomorrow during the day and take a closer look and if nothing I will wait for Sly to get back to have a look.

If it is a steering lock issue Nissan would of fixed that for free!
I suspect it is that.
