Question Uniroyal

Has any one tried Uniroyals?

Just that my mate can get only that tyre cheap, but at £90 a corner fitted, they might be worth a shot.

oooooeeeerrr

I posted a reply to this thread on monday night and its gone

Standard fitment 245/40/18 would be good for the 34rims.

Thanks John.

I've just replaced 2 Avons (!) with FK451s and they sooo much better. Loads more grip, less of that awfull throbbing noise and practically no tramlining.
Two more this month I think. Perhaps £75/corner (16's) is a bit steep but it was very local and you've got to spend it on something..

Just put a pair of 225/45/17 FEDRAL 595's on the back of my GTS, only tyre i could afford after wearing out my Pilot SX's, not the worlds best tyre, but in the dry works better than i had expected! nice little bit of drift exiting roundabouts at 50... and at £80 each fitted not a wallet killer!

Help !!!

A mate of mine sat in the car a few weeks ago and told me there was a knocking noise nearside rear - turns out the shock had gone.

He got on the car today and pointed out one of my tyres is bald in the middle - nearside rear - surprise surprise !

Anyway, long and the short is I need 4 falken 245/45/17 ASAP because on closer inspection they are all a little illegal.

Anyone know where to get Falkens at a reasonable rate in the Aylesbury / Oxford area ? Waqas / Stu Mc - any ideas ?

(Last time I let my mate near the car every time he gets in it it costs me a fortune !!!)

Cheers Mozz

Falkens

Hi Mozz,

I got 4 fitted for an all in price of £458 from Pitstop in Bedford.
You could try Toyo Proxes T1-S they have them on www.mytyres.net for £107.90 ea.

Otherwise just phone around locally and play one off against another for the best price.

Doesn't matther what you pay, someone will know someone who could have got them cheaper

Good hunting

Vincenzo

Had 2 get another 2 for the back of my GTS a couple days ago, also ordered from www.mytyres.co.uk £123.60 for Bridgstone S03's 255/40/17, quite good I thought, I reckon they might wear fairly quickly for me as im surronded by a maze of roundabouts but we will see, car is only used for weekends now tho

Matt..
Only for weekends?? You gotta drive it everyday mate to enjoy it
I have been driving my skyline for 2 weeks now non stop and its great to drive it everywhere. I used to use the missus's car for going down the shops and for short journeys but now its sold and its skyline everywhere!

Thing is I Have been on the road a few times when 'other' cars have been around and felt gutted i didn't have my skyline to p**s on there parade
The other day I finally met one of the cars i had been meaning to show my rear end, on a local quarter and it couldn't of been better!
Those huge Tarox 6 pots really helped me outbrake the Impreza Sti Prodrive to take the lead!
Let me know how those tyres do as I would like a set later on this year.

Cheers

yeah I do miss taking it in to work, especially if I happen to drive by a nice bird and im not inthe Skyline, or when some idiot decides to undertake or cut me up. Saving me a load on petrol though and im tryig to keep the mileage down a bit.

I got the wheels back from being refurbished yesterday and they look great, im still waiitng for the SO3's to turn up, ive got a feeling there not gonna be here for the east bank holiday which is a pain, as soon as I get them on though ill let ya know

Mat

Tyre discounts

I've received confirmation of a propopsed tyre discount for the GTR Owners Club. It will take me a few days to check the competition in detail and to agree with the supplier the full details of how we manage the offer.

On investigation it would appear they are cheaper than most of the on-line prices I can find so far. Some websites I have given up with completely as I have to enter all my car details, personal details and so forth, just to et a price. Others have reacted by saying I need to ring up to get a quote

When compared to some of the obvious on-line sources it is worthwhile to mention the deal we are working on is different to just getting the rubber delivered. The supplier will fit the tyres at your location or at their outlets. I have yet to discuss whether there will be additional charges for home-fitting.

More details will be posted once I have completed a review of whether it is a worthwhile offer.

John

Yeah,

They didn't come back with the right kind of prices, so I've told them to think again. If I hear any more I will definately post it but, for now, stick with what you know. Sorry.

John

Thumbs up Toyo

Just had my Bridgestone SO3s changed for Toyo Proxies. BIG Improvement. Much less tramlining and just as much grip in the wet or the dry.

Toyo Proxes T1-R

Just put 4 of the new Toyo Proxes T1-R's (replacement for the T1-S), on (275/35/18). Seem excellent in the 'duck' weather we are having. Tramlining not too evident either.

I had Toyo Proxes on my 200SX and when they wore out I went for the Goodyear F1's as they were so highly rated by others. All I can say is that they just don't have as much grip in the wet..........

So when the Skyline came along, off came the Bridgestone and on went the Toyo's, which transformed the wet weather grip.
