R33 LED/CCFL Rear Lights - R34 Nismo/R35 2014 Style

Today I ordered some parts in an attempt to update my rear lights.

As some of you know, I made my own LED rear lights years ago and used the R34 Nismo version as inspiration. I had an idea recently whilst looking at the new R35 2014 rear lights and have decided to try and incorporate the CCFL rings into the design.

The end product should look like a cross between this:

and this:

Parts won't arrive for a couple of weeks sadly and I've got no idea how they'll look but I fancy a change after 8 years.

I've taken all the measurements and ordered the set that's nearest the right size.
126mm should fit just about the same as on the R35, proof is in the pudding I guess.
Worth a punt at $54.

Matt - how are thinking to handle the low/high intensity for the light/brake light? Perhaps CCFL for normal lights and LEDs for the brake light.

That sounds like the better of the 2 options I think, with the other option being LEDS for normal and CCFL for brakes.

CCFL ring will be sidelight, Ultra bright LEDs already in for the brake.

The CCFL is just an update to the existing lights as below, brakes off...

Brakes on...

Ah I see. Makes sense. You might have a blank space on the CCFL (i.e. not a complete ring). Should look pretty cool either way. In the dark with just to CCFL illuminated it brings this to mind:

Yeah, that is my concern but I have ordered full rings so will see when they arrive. If they're not full rings, I have a fallback plan

Are these the same CCFL rings people fit into the front of the BMW headlights?
