I just got an 1989 R32 GT-S coupe and I'm looking into getting it all set up to have fun in, looks like 10w-60 and 15w-50 is what's most popular going back over the last twelve years of posts. Any suggestions would also be greatly appreciated.

I would use good quality 5w-40, closest engine oil it has planed to run so
oil viscosity, lubrication and engine temps work as intended.
If oil temp goes up, add oil cooler not thicker oil.

I went from Fuchs 5W-40 to 10W-50.
Oil pressure went up about 1BAR while being cold ..(16C)

I went for 5W-30 Castrol EDGE. My RB26 has got 230.000km on the clock and is mostly stock. No idea what was in it before. I figure a lighter oil is better for me as it makes life easier for my older Oil pump.

Another reason is that I rarely get the car up to top temperature. My test drives are very short and the climate that I live in is for the most part of the year colder. Once I do a engine out service I'll probably switch to a 40 or 50.

What I've been using.

Always 10w50 and sometimes 20w50, i like it and the engine does too.

Will try 10w40 next time, as it gets a little thinner at higher temps.

Why did you stop using 5w40??

Would 20w50 would be fine for Dubai with some minor modifications, short trips, highway pulls?
