Remember all those movies, been talking a lot with Enrita too.. just love your airport events!

For the gt-r, I tried searching some deeper ICs with no luck. but I guess adding a meth kit over your setup will be enough for good IATs at least and might take your route if nothing else to be found, looking forward seeing your new logs and feed-back
Yes Eritas car is now making 600 whp with a single turbo set up! Pretty cool

I was also thinking about meth before I bought the intercoolers, but Im kind of tired of filling up the tank, checking for leeks, clogged nozzels etc... So I decided to go for bigger IC's instead, but I would love to hear your results with meth on the R35 platform! It's always nice with people that thinks outside the box and tries new solutions

You done any temp testing yet? My car is not back on the road yet and I am real tempted to whip off my SRD cooler and fire these on.

Here's a log I did today with the new intercoolers.
IAT's starts at 22° and drops down to 19° after a 3-4 gear pull. Boost is ~1,2 bar

Looks good.

Think I will do temp runs on my SRD cooler then swap to what you have and compare

Do these figures mean anything without a comparison with the stock setup previously on the car?

+1 It would have been superb to have been able to compare to the stock set up. How did you log that data?

I agree need more info, but any cooler that can keep temps around 20deg C is pretty impressive.

I think you will find the standard cooler would be up around 50 to 60dgeC under the same conditions

But without having logged them on the same car, same ambient conditions, before taking off the stock cores we dont know and never will. There's an opportunity missed here sadly. IAT is one thing, but what is the pressure difference across these new cores compared to stock? How has that affected boost pressure and thus pressure in the manifold? Has it affected power at all?

A dyno pull before and after ultimately gives a better answer however there are many tuners in the US who have said that aftermarket ICs (of whichever make you care to mention) only really register a slight increase in power and mainly between 5-7k and only around 10-15 whp at best with stock turbos (go bigger turbos then a better IC is warranted over stock).

At the end of the day I'm a big fan of homemade meddling, jeez I've done a fair bit myself, but in this case there was a simple way to prove that all this effort was worthwhile, i.e. an improvement over stock, and that has unfortunately been missed.

These cores may be a fantastic cheap way to improve IATs but without evidence that's very hard to justify especially when the evidence so far after 7-8 years of tuning this platform is that the stock cores are good enough for 800 horses or so on the stock turbos.

if they were £600 I agree hard to justify but @ £160 there is very little to justify.

Even the SRD runs out of puff @ 800bhp so cant see the standard ones being up to the task. I guess it depends on what is considered "good enough"?

Again we would need evidence.

Sorry chap, I think you've posted air temps measured at the MAF rather than post FMIC. It makes no sense for the IAT line to be flat, despite the boost running up to 1.2Bar. The drop from 22C to 19C is just heat soak dissipating.

That's my thinking too.

Stock MAF sensor has an in built thermistor to measure IAT which means you're only measuring air temps pre-turbo and intercooler.

Now if you'd gone SD tuning with a post IC sensor then we'd have some meaningful and comparable data.

Sadly we are none the wiser as to whether these cores make any difference to stock. Nice project though.

Yes, I've also come to that conclusion...
In that case I have nothing more than results IRL to compare with. I will be racing my car on an airfield event soon, so we will see how she performs.

Will you be getting the car on a dyno?

No dyno queen here. The car is built to be used IRL.

no test or power data then? With your level of tune a dyno run would still give an indication of the intercooler efficiency so would be a worthwhile exercise.

What is inlet and outlet diameter of standart intercooler? Ebay intercooler is 64mm.

My Version so far £140 ( ducting to be made still ) - not sure how i get the figures people are asking for with the AIT being in the intake - i can do data logs with boost pressure at revs before and after fitted - any other ideas of getting figures?
