R33 GTR 4WD Atessa problem .

Hi,

I bought a 1995 R33 GTR and now I found out the 4wd isn't working normal I think .

When I turn on the ignition I dont hear the atessa pump running .
So when I than disconnected the brown bleeding connector under the steering wheel the "4wd " meter whent to 10nm and I hear the pump running for a short time .

Also the relay in the boot is working fine and I dont get any fault codes .

I tested 2 Atessa ecu and no difference .

If you reverse the car into grass so the front wheels are on Tarmac and pull away quickly, does it wheel spin or does the front torque pull you off the grass?

Didn't try that yet .

But doesn't the pump run some time when u turn on the ignition like the fuel pump ?

Only if the pressure is low.

Dunno, I'll try mine tomorrow. You might need the engine running?

Is the pump not running with the ignition on the only reason you think the ATTESA is not working?

Well I bought the car 3 months ago , rode it home and when I floored it something slipped .
Also a few times when I rode of a round point the car started vibrating like hell at slower speeds .

I returened the car to the garage and they said I smoked the transferbox and the vibrating was cause the transferbox sometimes stuck in 4wd at low speeds .

Than they said its because there were 10" wide wheels on the bacj and 9.5" wide at the front and the ecu was reading faster running rear wheels all the time because they were a little smaler .

They put 4 the same wheels and tyres on it now and stil they said it isn't working , so they replaced my atessa ecu .

Now they say the car doesn't slips anymore but there is still something wrong because the atessa pump doesn't make pressure when u turn on ignition .

So I started looking and the pump , relay etc works but I just never heard it running when I dont let it run myself with connecting it thru .......

Today I talked to a guy whe says he knows the R33 GTR system and he said the rear pum isn't to make pressure in the system but just to get the oil moving arround when it needs to get cooled and there is a other pump like a normal engine oil pump that makes the prusser for the franserbox working is this right ?

and does anybody maybee got a service manual from the attesa system and the compleet car , not the engine manual what u get everywhere ?

Also I tried to set the car to 2 wd by unplugging the brouwn plug under the steering wheel and press 5 times on the brake and it worked the 4wd drive light started blinking and when I started the car it just shut off is this normal ?

Your friends is slightly wrong.
The transfer box contains an oil pump similar to the engine oil pump. There is a simple gauze strainer before the pump. The pumped oil is used for cooling and cleaning. The later ATTESA equipped Infinity cars have a similar clutch pack, run in oil but the oil is not pumped.
The electric pump in the rear of the car is to produce hydraulic pressure, around 230psi. The oil compresses a nitrogen bladder. When front torque is required, a solenoid opens and allows this hydraulic oil to pressurize the piston in the back of the transfer box. This pushes a clutch fork compressing the transfer clutch pack.

Ok , so does the electric pump run when u turn on the ignition to build up pressure or when does it do ?

Is there a way for testing the system if it works correctly ?

Crack a fitting a bleed the system pressure and then try again, the pump should definitely run then.

My ATTESA pump does not run when the ignition get turned on but that's maybe because the pressure switch doesn't activate the pump.
