Spec update!

First realised that the RB20 green MAFs bought to work with the PFC rather the the 'corrected value' standard MAF map on the existing ECU wouldn't work with my brand new Apexi intake kit

Subsequently, a 2nd hand Power FC that I procured 2 years ago in an effort to allow a 'cheap' remap appears to have a loose connection internally - RB Motorsport fitted it and began a mapping session only to find some odd behaviour after 20 mins and returned to base. On investigation, physically touching the case of the PFC created some unusual voltage changes and general erratic behaviour, so this will be up for sale (for postage only) if anyone wants to open it up and fix the likely duff connections inside. Danger of 2nd hand purchases I guess but a bit pissed off another £300 wasted.

I then did what I should have done at the beginning which was have the latest Link G4 installed and mapped, binning the MAF sensors. At the recommendation of RB, boost control was left to the HKS EVC4 already installed as it was more effort to remove for now. Long term I'll probably let the ECU take the strain on that also.

The spec from Japan from Global Auto stated this car had an "R34 fuel pump", which was a little odd as the flow rate is officially no greater than standard, albeit a debated point on SAU forums. On removal, the part number is from an R32 GTR anyway, so even more strange considering the car was on GT-SS, thicker metal HG, bigger injectors, Nismo FPR etc. Regardless, an in-tank Walbro 450lph has replaced it.

MAF's are still in place doing nothing other than being brackets for the air filters before I get round to fitting the MAF delete pipes, which in turn means the Apexi filters can go on.

Car then had a full service including NGK -8 plugs, oil changes in the gearbox and Diff - the Cusco RS diff is a snappy, noisy little bugger but seems a little happier now. Plus a new do-luck wiring harness was fitted for piece of mind (original one looks almost perfect however, so will keep as a spare).

Last but not least, the Mines equal length DP was fitted and sounds awesome, to be made more awesome with the Amuse Ti exhaust I've yet to fit.

End result is the car feels decently strong at 1.0 bar and just as quick at ~1.2 bar now compared to 1.4 bar on the old tune, which can only be good. Some headroom / safety margin there knowing Rod, so happy to leave it be for now.

And finally some rolling footage someone posted on youtube when i left Oulton Park on Saturday! I think the car looks great in motion....note my cold engine mechanical sympathy vs some of the loons that thrapped down the road 7K rpm on 30degree oil temps

Update with latest improvements!

Tein re-released their carbon bonnet dampers. Despite worries, you can still drop the bonnet from about a foot to close it with no problems, so any dent fears from pushing are gone

Amuse R1 ti exhaust finally fitted, including some anti-melt attempts!

Good shot from above

Cost really depends on how bad it is already (mine was very good underneath from import) and how far you want to go so i wouldn't want to suggest a figure. They are very reasonable considering the work and attention to detail. The bigger problem is that last time I heard there was a 2-year waiting list for Zealou5!

Afaik Zealou5 no longer do GTR's.

SR Autobodies / Steve Richardson is / has 'taken' over this type of work - check out there FB posts.
