COBB rolling launch

Anyone know how to do rolling launch?
I've tried doing it the same as Ecutek by putting on c/c then flooring it then pressing cancel, no luck!
Tried holding down the set/coast button then release, no luck!

Simple!

Step 1:

uninstall COBB

step 2:

Install Ecutek. Select motorsport ROM option

Step 3:

Enjoy rolling boost / burnt out clutch packs and no noticeable improvement when roll racing

I was going to go down the Ecutek route as I was having the same problem as you with the car hesitating so Ben mapped it again for me but it didn't solve the hesitation, turned out that it just needed latest update which was free from Cobb but I thought oh well I've got rolling boost but seems I haven't, haven't had much help from Ben so thought I'd ask on here.

I had the hesitation when I got the car. I wasn't happy with it but didn't do anything with Ben but did speak to a few who said it wasn't uncommon - but SVM had a look and managed to map it out for me (after a few goes).

Smooth as silk and did what I wanted, which was circa 600lbft in the mid range and everything available uptop, which netted me 647bhp.

If your going to spend a few hundred then I would be tempted to change, mostly for soot reduction and an apparent increase in the amount of power now available at the top end with V5.

I don't think rolling boost is any more than a gimmick and have 'driven' next to cars with it many times and it always seems difficult to engage and do, overworks and in one case overheats the clutch back (requiring the car to stop and cool down) and to be honest, I have generally always got away as I am ready and waiting and just have higher revs.

Pops and bangs for the odd ASBO moment does appeal after experiencing it when I went out with a group of chaps that had it (10+ GT-Rs, it was pretty exhilarating!)

I've never tried the rolling boost as it seems remarkably fiddly to engage and I'd rather be looking where I'm going as opposed to fiddling around with it !

Martin do you think a car with stage 4+ hardware can be tuned on Cobb can stay up with a ecutek V5 car from what you have seen

For a while atleast, the fastest GT-R in the world was running COBB. Not sure if that's the case anymore?

In the real world at stage 4.25 I'm not sure Terry. At Version 4 I would say there is nothing in it. In fact I would say mine has been quicker having raced lots of stage 4 / 4.25 at our runway days.

With V5 cars reportedly pumping out nearly 700bhp I cannot see how mine could possibly keep up. I haven't seen any stock turbo cobb cars pushing much more than 650bhp either.

I do wonder what the cut off point is where you go from a very fast car to something that struggles to put down the power / remains fun to drive on the road. That said, I wouldn't turn down 850bhp

Thats why i ask seeing these v5 powered dyno results gets me thinking shall i change - cobb are about to release new maps v700 these are done by the same guy ( i think ) who tuned the AMS cars looking at the tables they look really good and have built in safety measures and adjustable traction control ( which i guess will be a big help on the road and standing starts ) i think the biggest problem is UK tuners dont seem to want to use it to much - think there is more money to be made from ecutek - I am going to try the new map then think about changing

If this link works then this is me having a run with a stage 4.25 with intercooler. Running Ecutek V4. Since then mine has been remapped so I have another 20HP and 50lbft so a bit quicker.

Interestingly from a standing start he had the edge, but then when we turn we do a roll race from 50mph. You hear him use rolling boost and I pull away despite him deploying it well / really good timing.

Did the link work?

bigger turbos you say...

http://vid1293.photobucket.com/album...psb57e3d8d.mp4

That one had rolling boost and bigger EFRs, car was making 800 - 850hp

We did a few and then he had to pull over as the clutch was too hot.

Always happy to eat humble pie but it seems from a thread Terry started recently there is capability on the newer cobb maps (not sure if released yet) to have Boost off the line and rolling boost.

Still not sure it's worth it though on a stock turbo car.

Build up revs above 3k, hold the cruise control speed button downwards with foot still on the throttle and you should hear/feel it engage. Put throttle all the way down and then let go of the button
