Leaky shocks - is it just me?

The GTR-32 I have seems to have shocks which end up leaking after only a short while. It has been in the country 5 years, done about 10k miles and the third set of shocks are now leaking! I have only had the car for the last year but the previous owner had two sets of nissan ones. The nissan ones have been utter crap and the first set leaked after 12 months even without using the car much. The ohlins that have been on for the last couple of years and done the most mileage seem to have been the most robust. Why do the shocks for a car like this look like hatchback struts? I would have thought something much more robust would be in order

Anyone know somewhere which sells the replacement seal kits or will rebuild ohlins for a reasonable price and within a reasonable time frame?
