Arrow Gojira - My R32 GTR Widebody Trackday Project

It's about time that I opened my project thread, my project has been going on for 2 years now.
After I bought my first BNR32 back in 2011 and upgraded the engine I was hooked! Had my own company for a while and kicked down the door at Mine's for the EU importing rights, which I got but due to losing my job, and private situations had to quit my company sadly.

First GTR, Gunmetal Grey, 1993 model.
Mine's ECU, restrictors removed, Catback, HKS cams

It sadly ended like this when a friend drove it, and crashed it into a lamp post, all things settled, no one injured but it still felt messed up .
I decided to strip it, keep the good parts, and sell the rest to other 32 brothers in need

Second GTR, Dark Blue Pearl, 1993 model.
Moving forward a few years I bought my second BNR32 GTR which had a broken engine, and decided to fix it! I choose for new HKS cams, new turbo's and a balanced crankshaft along with all the needed new bearings, rod bolts, head bolts, timing belt, N1 oil and water pump. Along with Mine's front pipe, elbows and bigger injectors + fuel pump and a full respray of the covers in car colour, looked quite sexy!

VIDEOS:

2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFQEHxkmaGc

Sadly, the GTR Gods are not in my favor, the N1 oil pump we got was part of the shitty batch Nissan made, but because there was no way of telling this to a Japanese shop while we're in NL, we basicly flushed 5k down the toilet when the engine broke after roughly 500km's due to a blown oil pump on the highway, so sold it on with broken engine:

So basically I thought, the only way to know for sure everything will stay together instead of breaking apart, or being crashed into an object, is to do everything myself, and donīt let other people touch my stuff! Of course, I canīt do literally everything myself, but I will try and do as much of the work or use people I trust instead of unknown shops for work, and sourcing parts

Hereīs where the fun stuff starts, and the history stops.
The plan is to build a Track / Time Attack R32 GTR, widebody, stripped, caged, MAXIMUM attack, I don't really care how long it will take me to finish it, and don't really care about the setup now (if it takes me 5 years to finish, the engine I buy now will be outdated, so I will wait for the very last before I make that decision).

Thanks for reading, pictures below!

Dropping chassis at my home:

Say hi! In with the project chassis, out with the bad-luck-broken-engine-sexy-colour-GTR!:

Rollcage in! 45x2,5mm ChroMo goodness:

Rear cross + taco's finished now, and fuel tank basket made, rear firewall also finished now:

Also had time to burn out my subframe rubbers, subframes by Zealou5! (thanks Bobster!)

Update! September 2015

Seat test fit to determine the height of the harness bar. Door crosses and front of the cage finished, all good now!

First part shipments coming in as well thanks to Wouter from Co-ordSport / Part-Box.com!

One-off Zero 3X suspension for BNR32 GTR God I love connections in the right places!

Sadly, my Shurgard box got broken into and there was alot of parts (new and used, like axles and hubs) stolen. Nothing major, but still a budget setback because my insurance didn't cover the entire thing (when do they, really...)

Gained some weight! December 2015

Dropped the car off at a bodyshop to have it widened to fit Japsalon's (HI GARY! ) widebody kit! Used this shop because they do alot of exclusive cars like Porsche and Ferrari and have been around for years, looking wide

Next stop, baking, degreasing, pearl blasting, powdercoating!

In the meantime it's getting cold outside, so I fled inside to put some small bits and pieces together, all the work that's done, is work I don't need to do anymore! I also got my subframes back from powder coating, and my hubs from pearl blasting, everything nice, clean and shiny for the new nismo parts, and Cusco Hicas lock bar.
All thanks to Wouter from Co-ordSport / Part-Box.com for the parts!

That's all done, and waiting for the car to come back so it can be fitted, getting excited! Also dismantled the diff, and took it away to Custom Import Arts to have the Nismo diff installed, shimmed and preset correctly, together with new bearings and gaskets / oil seals around.
Also bought a GReddy Diff cover with extended sump to help cooling, hope this will be back and done around this summer, don't really need it urgently.

Heavenly White! Februari 2016

Sandblasting, and powder coating done now, the guy has spent alot of time on this one, he used to own a Skyline in South Africa when he was younger, this was his first car that he did, he normally does industrial stuff like large steel beams and truck trailers, preview shots:

It looks like a toy model car like this

So I went and picked it up and was STUNNED by how bright it is, I really, really like it and yeah, you need sunglasses to look at it when the sun is shining, so UP YOURS on track competition
He did the underside, inside, engine bay and trunk, outside he didn't touch because the steel is too thin, and the pearl plaster would shoot right through it! I already thought of this so told him to never mind the outside, it will be sprayed when the full widebody kit is on

New Nismo wheel studs and OEM kingpins for my nice and clean knuckles and hubs, new bearings and rear HICAS ball joints:

Now I need to wait for some good weather for a good few days in a row so I can treat the underside with Bodyshoot, and chassis rails against rust. When that's finished, all the things I've prepared can be bolted on, easy as that. Subframes, knuckles, arms, rods, suspension set, cusco ARB's everything will be put under the car, but really need to wait before I can do this!

Also, I want to wait untill my Diff is ready, will be around mid Juli, so then I can put it under the car right away and put the axles back in as well! So now it's playing the waiting game, hope you enjoyed, and I hope to see you back on the next update

Hahaha that pic was unused, 1hr out of the box, yeah that's the disadvantage of stainless steel that gets hot and cold alot. But hey, at least it's under the car and out of sight

Heartbreaking to see your car crashed by someone else. Glad to see you got a great project going on to an even better car. Good luck!

That's a lot of hard work going into it, looks a very clean build. Maximum respect for keeping your Skyline bug alive after all the bad luck in the past.

Just dropped off my steering rack along with the OEM replacement parts to have it rebuild by a shop near me.

Also received a backorder shipment for wheel bearing dust covers and some nuts and bolts from Japan!

29-06-2016 Hubs, knuckles and front top arms finished!

Just finished up the front wheel bearings, bolted on the completed rear hubs onto the knuckles, and installed the new kingpins + top arm, all hub / knuckle work done now finally!
Everything was clean when we started, just see how fast everything gets greasy / dirty when working, but hey it won't be clean after 1 puddle of water so why bother now
