r33 GTR gearbox rebuilding
 

Hello,

messed up my OEM gearbox lately in r33 GTR

Thinking to build stronger one.

So far have two options

1. Os Giken internals on gear ratios: 1st - 2.695 2nd - 1.703 3rd - 1.236
2. Nissan Patrol Y61 RD28 with gear ratios 1st - 4.556 2nd - 2.625 3rd - 1.519

The OEM Skyline gear ratios are: 1st - 5th gear: 3.214 1.925 1.302 1.000 0.752

I have a guy who can build the gearbox on Patrol gearset for me for only 250 USD.

So i have a question. How these different gear ratios can effect the performance of the car on Patrol gearset?

It will lower the gearing. First will be very short etc etc

Would you be running OEM for 4 and 5 - if so you'd have a big gap there (between 3 and 4)

yes the 4th and 5th gear are similar to Skyline OEM so i think the worst thing is the gap between 3-4

But what about the acceleration feeling and torque. The car will feel slower with patrol ratios or the only problem is that i will have to change the gears faster to reach the same speeds?

What about starting from lights on 1st gear with Patrol ratio. Its going to be easier and less rpm needed? Just curious....because i am building this anyway. Everything else cost shit loads of money and at last the Patrol gearbox will be stronger so can punished that thing on the race truck. And this is most important thing to me for now.
