No rumours from me Andy, just an admittedly poor attempt at humor, I thought you'd be waiting for someone to say it

I was under the impression you were man enough to withstand a little light prodding? If not then I apologise I certainly have nothing to prove on the tuning scene

Well I thought you were funny Simonh, damned funny.

Lemme guess about the rod though.......it's a 152.5mm rod from a development RB30 conversion with the wrong size bearings and no squirters, is that the rod that was attached to the piston that hit the bonnet ?

Rod

Simonh,

I wasnt being serious

Jase, nope.

Come on, the rod condition shows why it as damaged as it is, its not a riddle, what do you think caused its demise? Its a stock R33 rod as per the part number on it.

We need SteveN 's knowledge, where is he?

What is cool is that it didnt break, even though it made a sharp and messy exit from the block, it bent twisted and warped but didnt snap.

Was it over revved or suffered piston failure?

Has the gudgeon pin gone first, sending the rod back down the cylinder, (still attached to the crank,), then on it's return stroke it hit the side of the bottom of the cylinder and went sideways?

The small end seems soo elongated - like it has been stretched. I haven't got a clue but it must have been a helluva bang!

The shape on the small end made me think the same. Looks like there was no gudgeon pin when the main smash happened or the remains would still be in there by looks of the damage to it, but who knows.

Never seen a gudgeon pin go, but dunno, tis possible same as anything else.

Dont like pointless guessing games.
