June 2016

I installed the Nismo sports air filter and put the sticker under the bonnet, here you can also see the new under bonnet mat to suit the vs2 carbon fiber bonnet.

I ordered a Nissan/Nismo flag for the garage and also some Omori Factory stickers to go on the rear quarter windows.

The Nismo intake also arrived and i installed it straight away I had been on the fence about this intake as i plan to get the R-tune bonnet one day and use the Z-tune conversion duct that is available for that. Who knows when that will be though so i went with this one for the time being.

Thanks Kadir, it is nice to get some feedback. I could have put this on Facebook but I'm a forum diehard and would rather share it with people that way. Personally i think we should get rid of the like button and people can actually take the time to write a proper comment on peoples threads if they "like" it

As we all know Nismo re-released the LMGT4 in 18x10.5 +15 last year, i was super excited to see these release so i ordered a set straight away. These will be great for track wheels and/or a good long term investment i think.

The braking was one area of the car i was unhappy with, whatever pads were in it felt average at best so i went ahead and fitted a set of Pmu pads in a compound i found very good in the S15. For something different i also decided to give the Pmu G-four brake fuild a try as well. While doing this it was the perfect time to put the Nismo braided brake lines in and also get the factory discs machined. It was about this time i also swapped the Rays wheel nuts for Nismo ones.

My S15 had been photographed for Fast Fours Magazine in about May 2015. It took until June 2016 for it to be published. I knew i wouldn't get the main cover photo but i was very very happy to have made it onto the cover as one of the smaller photos. It had been a dream of mine ever since starting to buy car magazines in 1999 to have my car featured one day. After telling myself i would get the R32 featured after "one more mod", which to this day has never happened, i decided to call it a day on the S15 and approach a magazine about it. Thankfully Fast Fours was only to happy to feature it

Needless to say i bought about 10 copies of the magazine haha

Finishing up June I found time to install the Nismo inlet plenum. This was a bitch to do in the car but it is possible even though Nismo say its not or do not recommend it. I had drooled over this part for years (like all these Nismo parts) and was really happy to have it on the car and complete the look i was after in the engine bay.

A couple of other parts turned up from Nismo which were the braided clutch line and the stronger transmission mount.

What a month it was, i was expecting my first born child at the end of the month so i was pushing to have the R34 tuned by then. I had the car tuned on the 13th and my little girl was born ten days early on the 18th. The car didn't blow up and my little girl made it into the world with out too much drama. It had all come together

Here is some pics of the Tomei Type R cams going in after taking the Type-B's out, and some shots of it all put back together

I dropped the car to Gt Auto Garage to have the ecu swapped to the PFC L-jetro and get tuning done. They wanted to change the spark plugs to Hks ones a couple of heat ranges colder and i didn't object. I was very very happy with the quality of their work and the tune, i was hoping for around 300kw and made just over that. As you can see they specialise in high performance cars, especially Gt-r's

The changes from the cams and the intake manifold had the desired effect and made the car a lot more driveable with boost coming on about 500rpm earlier. Previously it was dead below about 4000rpm, now it it much more lively from about 3500. This made all the difference to my enjoyment of the car considering it is first and foremost a street car. Hopefully this package can hang together long enough for me to get a 2.8 sorted for it over the next few years!

Here is the dyno chart from the tune, as you can see its all over by 7000rpm. The Nismo Omori Factory tow hook arrived as well as a Cusco brake master cylinder stopper. I wasted no time in fitting these as they are simple to install. Also a couple of pics of them fitted up.

I also collect some models so when i saw this #23 Xanavi Nismo GT-R come up for sale i bought it, it goes really nicely with the #12 Calsonic Nismo GT-R i have.

Here you can also see my mfd screen, it looked fine when looking at it straight on or from the drivers seat but on an angle like this photo is taken on looked terrible and was setting off my ocd. When i took it apart it was evident someone had tried to replace the polarizing film before and may have even put it on backwards according to the guy i bought a brand new oem Nissan replacement screen from. Look him up on Facebook if you want one, his name is R34 GTR MFD. Very helpful guy and great prices on brand new genuine oem screens!

Nismo floor mats arrived, as well as the engine mounts and an oil cap with the new logo. I have a bit of an oil cap collection happening as well

I bought the floor mats mainly to preserve the original ones which can no longer be bought.

As i had suspected my LHS engine mount was broken, i replaced both oem mounts with the Nismo items i had ordered. I also did the Nismo transmission mount about this time from memory.

The new mfd screen arrived so i swapped that over which was an easy job. At this point i thought while i have it apart that i might as well chase up a Nismo mfd upgrade for it as well. I wanted it mainly for the increased boost gauge and oil temp range and the increased range on other sensors. It would be nice if Nismo released a version 3 of this kit with up to date logging software.

I had been watching the price of the Logitech G29 for awhile, i was pretty bitter about having to upgrade my faithful G25 when moving to PS4 but what can you do!? A store had a special on and dropped the price by $100 and threw in the gearstick and F1 2016 game for free so it was definitely time to buy. I sold the old G25 to recoup some more money as well. I do enjoy a bit of sim gaming and i am thoroughly enjoying the new game and setup. The G29 features a much better brake pedal so i felt like i got something for the money lol!

Also i just thought id throw this pic in of one of the R34 JGTC cars just for interest sake. Oh how id love a set of those engine covers, especially the orange ones, the manifolds and shields and turbos wouldn't hurt either

Also note the exhaust setup without equal length front pipes

October came around and i decided to take the car out on track, nothing serious like time attack just an event we have here called circuit and coffee. It is $60 for an hour and a half and you can enter and leave the track as you please, it also includes a nice breakfast. You basically just race down the straights and don't go all out in the corners after all that is what time attack/track days are for. Its nice to give it some without looking over your shoulder constantly for the police, pedestrians or other motorists.

Here are a few pics from the day. I have a bit of video too but my You Tube skills are non existent at the moment

A friend of mine was in the R33 Gt-r you can see and we had some good races

After taking the car to the track i identified a few issues i wanted to look at.

1. Oil temps, the temps weren't too bad, nothing over 110 deg c, but i have put an oil cooler on the shopping list for this year (2017)

2. Fuel surge, need to check the install of the Nismo fuel pump fitted before i bought the car, i was getting surge between 1/2 and 3/4 of a tank. I feel like i should be able to get down to at least half a tank before there is any issue. I want to be able to run at a session like this without having to refuel. I might as well go E85 if i want to lug fuel containers around. For now i want to avoid a surge tank and/or E85 as long as possible.

3. Brakes, they got a bit hot a few times and while (understandable doing repeated braking from about 180 km/hr) it is something i can probably manage i would like to go to a R35 380mm F/R setup in the next few years. I will use the Supertec fitting kit and light weight rear bell most likely.

4. A shift light would be handy so i can keep my eyes on the road a bit more. I could live without it but i had one i loved in my S15 so i decided to chase one up for the R34. I find the oem shift light on the mfd pretty much useless.

Here are some more pics from the day

Also shown is an old wallet of mine from 2008 that i found in the cupboard. I used to carry a picture of the BNR34 to remind myself what i was working towards Plus i had no family or girlfriend at the time haha

Finishing up October was the installation of the Nismo carbon spoiler flap. It was a long long wait for this to be clear coated but it was finally finished and on the car

There is also a pic of the Ecliptech Shift-i that i was able to purchase of the same guy i bought the under engine cover from. They do not make this version anymore and i prefer it to the new one so i was happy to have it.

November 2016

Nothing really happened this month, after a year of steady progress i needed a break and so did the bank account. Here are a few random pics i have from that month.

First up is a picture of the Nismo mfd upgrade i forgot to include earlier.

I also went with a friend to look at a Mazda RX7 series 8 he was interested in, the car and the seller were both dodgy af so we laughed and left.

I also finally bought one of the snow lance attachments for my pressure washer to give this method a try. I used it on the R34 and the daily and was happy with the result, I love car care products lol

December was much the same with not much going on. I took the car out for a Sunday drive with the Fiance and finished it off by getting some fish and chips near the water, of course we sat and ate where i could see the car

I took a proper photo of the carbon blade in the sun, which still didn't turn out that well. I will have to get some photos in the right sort of light to really capture the carbon weave well.

I also post updates to my Instagram account if anyone wants to follow there. These were my 9 most liked photos of the year.

For Christmas the Fiance had a calendar made for me, i had mentioned at some point i wanted the 2017 GT-R Magazine one that comes as part of an issue every year. This was better because its expensive/annoying to get hold of the magazine so it would save me time and money and had a personal touch to it. Then there is the bonus of knowing she can go through my phone when I'm not looking and send herself pics and delete all traces of her actions too!

To finish the year off i have added this meme that made me laugh that I'm sure we can all relate too

Thanks mate, i really appreciate the feeback and look forward to seeing more of your car. I started this thread just to share the car with people and keep a diary of my ownership of the car. I have enjoyed reading many many build threads before and hope people are enjoying this one. I enjoy the likes as much as anyone but i certainly feel like if we all took the time to comment a bit more the forums would be a much better place for it. It is a forum after all

Thats enough spamming you all for today, its time for a beer!

excellent updates with some mega parts being installed! really enjoy the pics you are posting up and the sense of humor.

i was also looking into a master brake cylinder stopper and was hoping that Nismo made one, but they dont... lol i may look into other brands and the one that you have purchased and installed looks like a good one, does it interfere with the nismo brace in any way and do you have any more pics of it installed?

Nice pics!

I'm keen to hear how those Type R's sound, I've seen a few vids on youtube, but still the more the merrier. Not many running those cams it seems. Would be perfect for me here since the 2 year Japanese inspections are kinda stringent depending on who you get. And they're drop it still. Did you go with adjustable gears?

Thanks bhp, I'm glad you like the parts, it has taken A LOT of saving and sacrifices to be able to afford to do this.

You're right Nismo don't do a brake master cylinder stopper, although they have done them as part of a strut brace in the past. The Cusco one is very good and cheap. If you don't like the blue (blends into my engine bay fine) you could easily paint it black, i did that with my S15. I will pm you some pics but it does not interfere with the strut brace in any way
