Wink Buying 11 reg GTR

Folks, I have put tiny deposit on 11 reg GTR (DBA model). I am new to GTR world, have always owned BMWs before, now I am letting go luxury of all bells and whistles to join the pure performance club.

It is private sale so bit worried. What shall I look for to avoid any nasty surprises?

As the model lines specs are changing almost every year what specs (0-60 etc) will just after mid-11 reg car have?

Whats the next service due? Oil and filter or the full monty?

Brakes and pads, how much left, dont go by when they were last changed, actually measure them.

Service history, who by and are they all on time, stamped etc?

History of the car, tracked, launched?

Any mods done? Stage upgrades, circlips, piston clips etc.

If you want a solid peace of mind, get it to somewhere like Litchfeilds for check over.

Completely stock, no upgrades (except Y pipe) Never been tracked launched. Full service history on time, last one from specialist rest all from Nissan. Front brakes may be due next service in 6 months time.

What sort of cost does it involve in getting a specialist to check it?

Or contact the last specialist who carried out the service.
Tech spec even varies from car to car and Nissan don't state the true HP or 0-60, best just to remap and dyno... then you know what you're dealing with

I find it hard to believe any GTR wouldn't have been launched a few times. It's the most hysterical thing ever. Feels like you're being shot out of a catapult.

It's not the 0-60 that counts, it's more the 60- oooh shit, I just lost my licence

Spoke to previous service place and he said not much to worry except a possibly leaky shocks which 'may need' replacement, they need to see to confirm. He also mentioned brakes which will need replacement on next service.

Litchfield warranty inspection is really cool but it is not practical as one have to take car there for 2 hours, I doubt any seller will be happy to do that. Including drive back and forth it is almost a day's job.

My advice would be it HAS had a launch.

Ain't nobody doing a "stage 1" not to drive the thing "properly".

I have bought two cars that way one owner took car from Watford, other from Derby, I agreed to pay all costs if cars passed inspections, they just had to give up some time. They had a guaranteed sale if Litchfields were willing to be put warranty on cars for me. Bought both cars and both great cars still got one. Just ask the seller they want your money as well as you wanting the car.

That does sound bit weird, but no mods has been done except y pipe for sound as he said, stage 1 wasn't done, totally stock except sound improvement.

No map with y-pipe?

Wouldn't touch that car - removed the cats so it would be running rich.

Sounds dubious... I believe the ecu permanently stores vehicle data like boost settings. I would suggest you pull the data off - that will tell you if it's been mapped and taken back to stock.

Nothing wrong with a tuned car. In fact I bought mine stage 4, but I'd be wary of something that had been mapped then efforts taken to hide it..
