Intercooler advice

Planning on getting my engine forged, new turbos etc etc in a couple of months time, looking at end result of around 850bhp. I want to upgrade my intercooler (with 80mm hard pipe kit) so I'm looking for advice on which one to buy as so many around.

The simplest answer is to discuss this with whoever you choose to forge your engine. Reason being they'll have done this before and you benefit from their experiences (and possible mistakes made already).

In my case I went for a Litchfield Superstock because I already have a front mounted trans cooler which prevents fitment of a taller race-type intercooler and the testing done by Litchfields convinced me it was the most effective solution in the stock sized position.

Iain did however warn me that it may not be sufficient for my build but time will tell.

Id go AC speedtech intercooler and let them forge the motor, they can reccomend a turbo set up for your needs. This is roughly where I will be at next month, I already have their intercooler and we will be able to max the turbos out, we are at prob mid 7's hp wise and the air temps are very good.

Race Dominator front intercooler from Litchfields is a very good one, tried & tested for 1000+hp builds. One of the features is the reduction of pipework associated with other intercoolers & the OEM setup.

Have you decided on which tuner is doing the build?

Severn valley do some based on std intercooler tanks with uprated cores, think they come for less than £1000

AC do a nice cooler, very similar to AMS one, think thats £1200

Pro Alloy have a couple of options

these lots to choose from so it will come down to personal choice.

Agreed, gtr be them a ring, they're advice is very honest, products they use are all of high quality and prices are reasonable. Mines in currently being forged with them as we speak!
