Dct cooler kit

Hi all.
Just buying into the gtr club and been looking at the dct coolers.
Lots said about them but just wanted a final recommendation.
I have emailed litchfield asking how much supplied and fit for there's but have had no response.
Anyone on here had it done fisrly recently. Or got better ideas for me?
Cheers in advance

I believe Litchfield still use the Forge front mounted kit. I've met plenty of guys on track days with them and they've had mixed results.

I have the SSP front mounted one (it's a larger fan driven core that sits directly in front of the radiator) and it's been flawless in keeping trans temps below 110 on extensive track work on summer days. It's only flaw is that it prevents fitment of a taller IC.

Search my threads for the install.

What year is your car and do you track?

Hi
Cheers for the response.
It's a 59 plate but does have a big intercooler kit on.
I am planning to do the odd track day so just want to make sure it's all ok really. Was thinking this should be the first step

Ive done a similar kit to Adam (CC) and its a very neat install, comes in around £1600, I havent tested mine yet on track but got the temp to 102 and it pulled down to 90 in a very short time, also it works with car switched off and parked and pulls 1 degree every 30 secs.

Could I ask where you bought the kits from? Did you install then yourself?
Guessing it can't be too difficult.
Thanks

After chatting with Adam I stripped my car and measured everything, had an oil cooler made by Serck Marston motorsport division, used a Mocal oil pump, BMRS lines with swaged fittings, the only thing I was not happy with was the alloy sump hence I am having my own made that are designed to be very easy to fit with the line and take the stock oil measuring tower.
If you PM your e.mail Ill send pics of the install but yes nothing special just really need a ramp, the only reason I havent offered the kit is im waiting to get real data from a trackday. If needed Ill also be doing a diff cooler with the same principal.

I would of guessed you were called Charlie....lol

All very interesting guys and John you can't be far from me either.
I am in no rush as yet but want something in this summer really.

Spoke to Litchfield today and they have a revised kit coming out, just waiting on final figures etc in the next couple of weeks.

Be handy to see pics etc, i am sure i am capable of fitting it myself.

If you mail me at [email protected] i can let you have the pics and you can decide on how you can do a kit for yourself.

As John discovered with a few pointers from me a DCT cooler is just pipes, a cooler core and a pump.

If you check the threads started by me you'll get the idea.

And a sump

That was part of an economic dilema, the sumps with take offs were far to expensive and the one I bought hasnt got a take off for the feed to pump, the ones im getting made have a -8 take off and thick wall to tap for the temp switch and they take the 'filler tower' to get the correct level, although I will prob overfill a tad and run an overflow as launching on slicks can result in fluid starvation.
And to make it easier the way Andy and I do it means no moving the washer bottle and not having headlamp washers etc.

I have the HKS kit, which is great and very good quality. I've had mine modified to have a manual switch for an inline pump. Can choose to have it on or off, ideal for the track.

Yeah ive heard its a well made kit BUT its 1K more and does not cool anywhere near as well as Andys and mine (by HKS figures) and you have to lose your washer bottle with the headlamp washers and I believe sacrifice those so no longer MOT legal

No, mine cools just aswell as the others - from my experience, still have the washer bottle and headlamp washers are normal. There is a smaller washer bottle that comes with the kit - just need to order the right kit
