I used normal primer and paint on mine from a spray can, but next time im going to use a 2K paint and laq, its much harder wearing and can stand higher temps. only got a small ammount of temp related distortion even with the aerosol, and i had my engine temp allmost to the red at least once while its been on there.

Poisness nasty stuff that you need an air fed mask and ventilated garage for.

Very hard finish i found, and the laquer goes on well.

I used a 2pak & laquer last time , but when the engine is hot
the paint gets a bit soft and damages easily.

Next time i will probably use VHT paint https://www.usautomotive.co.uk/store...?idCategory=47

As well as the paint may sure you get a good quality lacquer. A lot of the problems you see are often caused by the lacquer not the paint.

Here's one of my engine with a good quality paint and good quality lacquer (shame the picture's not that good)
