Unhappy Heater blowing hot air

My MY11 (DBA) heater always blows hot air unless I turn the AC on, once I turn the AC on it goes too cool. Is it a common problem? What could be it?

All I want is ambient temp airflow, not cold, neither hot.

It should have been phrased as "air vent".

Changing temp hardly makes it any cooler. This wasn't a problem in cooler days but since weather has now warmed up it is getting uncomfortably hot inside.

It's normal on warm days, mine blows warm and roasts you unless you switch on AC. The interior of an R35 is a very hot place to be on a warm day.

In hot weather conditions the cold air setting makes no difference hardly if the air conditioning isn't been used.

I haven't taken apart an R35 dash myself, but the symptoms you describe are what happens when a pipe on a Skyline 32-34 dash isn't re-connected (or other cars such as Honda, etc), after removal of the centre console. If the A/C system can't sense what the cabin temperature is, it'll stay at a constant temp, regardless.

Look for some little slits where a sensor would sit behind, usually 3 slits one on top of the other each roughly 1cm wide. The rubber pipe would connect onto that...

I will have a look this evening, if that pipe is disengaged is it easy to get access to it so that it can be put back in place. Hope I don't have to take off dash.

Used to do a lot on BMWs but now lost appetite.

You should be able to reach around the back and see if its dangling around (and so it must be off). If it's on then it should be tight and you shouldn't need to take the bottom cowl off which you might need to do if it need putting back on.

Not difficult to take off bottom cowl if it comes to it.

Personally I only use the AC if absolutely necessary, and that's usually about 3 times a year in this country ha.

Some people leave it on all the time (in all makes of car) but to me that's a pointless waste of fuel.

True that, never had to use AC for longer then 5 mins, ever. I hate extra growl from the engine bay for no real reason. Ambient air is comfortable enough in the UK in summer.
