3" Exhaust Systems

Hi Guys,

Looking to have a full system made up for the car, having noise limit issues.

Seems to be a major price difference between custom 3" and 3.5" systems.

I cant see me going over 600bhp with this car, got to much to focus on in other areas.

Does anyone see 3" as a limitation? Does anyone run one currently?

Cheers,

Al

3" will be fine, but you would see gains with a 3.5" system at that power level.

The car is already [email protected], but thats with standard R32 elbows, trust downpipes & japspeed 3" decat. So even thuough the current exhaust is huge, I shouldnt think reducing to 3" will make any difference with all the restrictions in front of it?

I would go 3.5" personally. For 3" you get plenty of JDM systems - true 3.5" are little harder to find and most being just too loud.

Your biggest restriction is the stock R32 outlets and I'm sure the japspeed downpiple im probably on the small side. Consider a HKS 70-85mm downpipe.

I'm a little confused by your response mate I must admit.

I'm not trying to unrestrict when I currently have, I'm trying to get a trackday legal system on it. For evenings too. 87.5db drive by.

I've got trust downpipes, not japspeed.

For noise Id stick with 3". The 3" silencers are a bit smaller as well, making it easier to add a silencer in the middle section without getting to low to the ground - And you will probably need 2 good silencers for your goal.

As FR said, you can get a lot of good 3" systems for these cars..

front to back? my HKS silent power seems silly diameter.

I'm gonna go ahead with the 3". I need to put money into the chassis over the next few years anyway!

Actually I think you are right, I took a quick look at RHD japan and it looks like many exhausts are indeed 3.5", so perhaps more then I initially expected have 3.5" on their GTR`s. I still think 3" would work for you, have better ground clearance if that matters and have less noise. But you would gain power with 3.5", so perhaps a better rear silencer on the HKS silent power is an option? The HKS rear silencer is anything but silent (I have used it as a custom silencer on cars before, and it is LOUD).
