I guess they wouldn't need the key to open the car but would need the key to turn the ignition, or hot wire it, and then smash the steering lock out?

steering locks are not that difficult to defeat generally.

Does it stop only when under a certain speed, otherwise if they get straight on a dual carriageway that could be 100 miles or more ( i live 1 minute from the M23), late at night I could get a whole tank of fuel away before I needed to stop.

It's a time based stop, after about 30 secs the hazards start to flash, then the horn starts sounding and if it is wired into the fuel pump it will shut the pump off. Technically it is not legal to wire it to the pump as it could shut the car down in a hazardous position however if its wired to the pump the fuel flow will be a controlled shut down as the car starts to missfire and eventually stop as opposed to an ignition shut down.
It was developed to prevent hijacking, the thief thinks they've got away but in a short distance the vehicle comes to a halt.

The ghost system works key cars or keyless cars. No code entered no starting full stop

How is it disarmed? Or in fact armed if your say sat at lights and the door gets yanked open/window put in scenario?

The system is initiated by the door opening, you then have to press a small hidden microswitch, if it's not pressed the Autowatch will go into it's light flashing , horn sounding and shutdown sequence in 30 secs.
The system is ideal if a thief breaks into your house and steals the keys as they can drive away but the car will be found in an approx 2 mile radius, the thief is not going to hang around and try and restart the car as the horn is sounding and lights are flashing. I would rather have them drive off instead of threatening me with a knife because they can't start the car.

I've got a function on my tracker to shut the car down from an app on my phone. So I could let them drive off and hit cut off, basically it shuts the car down next time it is stationary. So first junction they're done.

Rather worryingly I was followed home in my GTR a couple of months ago. A BMW let me out at a junction (I should have known then) and followed me the 250m to where I live. Two of the guys in the car got out and were waiting out of sight for me to switch the car off before my neighbour disturbed them. Fortunately I was letting it cool down in the garage. I have a Ghost fitted but its annoying they now know where it lives....

One thing as the report says, It might be worth investing in a Disklok Disklok UK type device, as even on the video it looks like the thief looks quickly inside the front window with a torch, possibly looking for this type of device that would slow them down, or maybe make it more/too much hassle to steal.... ....thoughts?

I've heard of this happening on Mercedes and BMW's now!

It seem's lot of cars now key fobs ping out a signal, so you Can open the car door by just pressing the touch sensitive button on the door, when having the fob in your pocket, so you don't need to press anything on the fob, as long as the fob is in the vicinity of the car, so the thieves are scanning the code somehow from the fob in the house, and then replicating the code to the 2nd device which somehow authenticates it, and the car unlocks. Its scary stuff.! Not Nissan yet from what i've seen. That's why people need autowatch ghost now, as even with the keys, you can't start the car without a special dash/steering wheel button combo. About £350 installed check it https://www.autowatch.co.uk/products...-ghost-product , mines getting it soon!

Problem is what if the ghost installer installer comes back? I self fitted mine having bought it from the the manufacturer in Russia. Works a treat but advisable to have additional mechanical deterrents like a steering wheel lock.

What if the guy who designed the GTR wanted them all back and he has built a secret switch into them so he can come back and steal them all

It could of been innocent, maybe wanted to chat about the car?

On that basis I wouldn't of gone home if I felt I was being followed, just drive onto the next place you can put your foot down
