So whats happened????? Slooooow

When I was last on here frequently (around 4 years ago) it was a hive of activity with loads going on, what's happened? where is everyone??

Everyone moved on, or have things migrated to FB and Instagram etc??

or maybe the GTR-R35 has been done to death and got a bit old hat?

looking just now there are only 12 guys online. I remember when there used to be between 50 and 100 online most of the time

Yes, it has gone very quiet on here and moderation is almost non existent. We put a stop to religious and political threads some time back so that kills a load of possibilities for discussion and banter. Speaking for myself, Iíd like to have left those options open but itís not to be which is a shame.

It is always quieter in the summer/holiday season etc. but it has been very quiet for a long while now. Not sure if itís possible to put my finger on the exact reason for it being so quiet but, if people donít visit, they arenít going to post!

Itís not just the R35 section thatís quiet, thereís less going on in the Skyline sections as well.

This. Over moderating just kills it. It's actually funny and interesting to have an argument online, infact it's the best bit about forums.

Loads have moved to Facebook, I had a look but it's rubbish.

Almost everything has been discussed now, people just use the search function and those who don't get advised to use it.

Have to admit I've noticed the same since I've been back on. But seems the same with a couple other car forums I've been on

I used to visit other dedicated Skyline forums quite often but even the Skyline Owners Club and Skyline Owners Forum have gone very quiet concerning topics that interest me.

Skyline owners are definitely gravitating to FB and the extremely focussed R33 GTR group has worldwide appeal.

At the end of the day, I think this forum remains the definitive organisation for general and technical advice for all marques. Additionally, the GTRDC resides here and some damn good events have been organised with more to come.

Very few build threads these days. Especially on the R35. There used to be loads of mega build threads from the likes of Litchfield and SVM or JM Imports. Either they have stopped posting build threads or they have stopped doing big builds!!

Same on all forums I think, most moved to FB and WhatsApp groups.

I only pop in here every now and then to see what’s going on and check classifieds

Yup, I think the classified ads are one of the many strong features associated with this forum - probably the best ads anywhere, especially for Skylines.

Yep very slow here...perhaps as R35 is now so old...when it was new this place was ace and full of new arrivals and then projects...reckon if we had R36 it would get busy again

I tend to use Cutters...nice and lively and more relevant to current car choices

To be fair though, when it was a bit more of a free for all, I used to dread the mornings as my first half an hour to an hour at work would be sorting out a nights worth of crap that had happened since I last logged on. When you work on a voluntary basis that's a lot of time to give up every day so something had to give.

I do agree though that some arguing and bickering is funny and can be quite healthy for forum activity. I'd like to see more going on here but you can't make people post if they don't feel they've got much to say.

Discussing cars that are all 10 years old and more can lose its appeal.

I have looked on FB (I don't like FB) but not much out there. Being on other car forums I must say they are all much the same. I thought being a unique kind of car the GTR forum would hold strong but times change I suppose.

The thing that confuses me is that this place is down on active users by about 1100 yet prices for skylines are so high, well advertised high.

Seem arse about face to me.

Most people don’t do politics

Most people want the cheapest “deal” possible

Chit chat on 35 model is kinda done

Older cars (32 33 34) are either owned by those who garage them or those who want to make a quick buck

Trade wise - again politics - but il guess most just buy via eBay

I’ve totally got my zen back post being a trader on here

Log in every month or so but there’s more to like than GTROC

Again this is NOT GTROC, it's the register who hosts the GTR DRIVERS Club.

All forums are quiet in August, period. They are most busy during working hours.
A lot of people on their hols.

I'm also on the Porsche GB Club forums and they are deader than a dead thing too. Their faceache is also very quiet. It's just the time of year.

Facebook is for willy waving bitching a trolling

Forums are for technical searchable archived content

The way people use forums has changed. They see huge footfall but people dont post the random shit they used to, they do that on FB now.

So whilst it’s quiet it’s only because most of what can be said, has been said. Start an interest thread and it’ll bring people out of the woodwork

I never did a self tune with my last one. Think that will be the plan this time, should get some interest as I don't think its been done on here before.
