Abbey motorsport built 33 gtr

It feels amazing to be able to type this!

so 2015 i sold my midnight purple 33 to buy a house which all went smooth, while this was all happening i had a couple of cool cars but nothing came close to the skyline.

i had been watching prices go mad over a period of time so knew i was going to have my pants pulled down over the price, adamant i wanted a fully tuned car i waited and waited for the perfect example patiently. one morning i had a conversion with mark from abbey about a potential car which he recommended full hks step 2, single turbo, well maintained, rust free body

talked to the previous owner on facebook who built the car to find out all I could and that's that.

so iv just been trying to bring her back to best.

first up badges front and back
new strut brace
new centre caps.

i was lucky to find a do-luck centre brace for £100.. snapped that up!

badges!

also the flair was missing

also just tidying up wiring and vacuum hoses.

lastly a fresh mot, no advisory's and the tester commented on how clean the underneath was

thats about as far as iv come in the last couple of months. i plan on doing the rear callipers to match the fronts, renew the crackle finish on the cam covers etc. I hope you enjoyed the photos.

the previous owner sent me some photos of when the car was imported and built. very cool to see!

i managed to get a few bits done this weekend while the weather was nice! installed a little fire extinguisher just in case, i would like a bigger one but this will do for now.
iv been having coolant loss which i narrowed down to my rad cap leaking while the car was getting hot, that's sorted couple of bits of oem parts to go on etc

bit more angle for the spoiler

and it snowed

lastly i refurbed the headlights, they were so yellow and manky it was unreal. the waste from the first grade paper was not a good colour

slow progress

just continuing with the theme of smarting it up and getting rid of the worn out flock. suede arm rest cover has been stuck on along with handbrake/gear boots
centre console coin tray replaced along with the gtr emblem

then the dash facia panel had bad wear to the flock so iv used a plumbers torch to burn the fibres back then clean it up with 80grit 120 currently finished in 240 wet. i also deleted the air con temp sensor, arial switch and the clock

paint arrives this week!

couple of little bits done this week..
abbey breather tank
hot side of the boost pips
and the dash facia panel painted, the facia panel didn't come out 100% which I'm not happy about but it beats worn out flock

i really feel like im starting to make progress now..

charcoal canister along with all associated pipe work gone!
excess wires for front headlight wiring, dipped and main beam gone! the hid ballasts have been relocated away from the engine bay and neatly tucked away on the crash bar.
front bumper indicators vents have been through the dish washer about 3 times trying to remove what i believe to be years of spray wax use on them. slowly coming back to life though

when i pulled the headlight out i found some alpha horns which iv never seen before i take it these aren't stock items? they say made in japan so that's good enough for me .

front bumper needs to come off next, not looking forward to that in my tight garage

the cars back together after all the work, I'm really happy with the hidden n/s headlight loom after hiding it under the headlight and inner wing, it looks so much cleaner around the hot side piping

i have removed the bovs which has increased response between shifts!

iv got some stuff coming in the post which im keen to show you all, hopefully il get some time on the car soon

had a good run over the last couple of weeks, rb20 finned rockers installed along with some fresh paint for the cas and cam cover. i had to swop out 8 bolts and remove the splash guards other than that its a straight swop.

now this has left me with 2 problems

1) i need to sync the timing with the ecu with a windows computer, i use mac...
FIX) Buy timing light and new laptop
2) the coil packs look terrible on display
FIXED) Bought platinum racing products coil pack kit

Looks like some good progress on this mate!
I do love this colour too!

Has your PRP coil pack kit turned up yet too? Would you be selling your splitfires once they do?

PRP kit all installed like a dream! it runs and just needs timing sorting.

payed a visit to abbey motorsport to collect my abbey breather tank after some modifications to - 12 AN, borrowed a fitting to mock up, now full steam ahead to the finale.

also some new silicone turned up, 8 week wait but I think it will be worth it still need to order the remaining hoses but I can't do everything at once

firstly a massive thank you to mark @abbeymotorsport for sorting my timing out. legend!

breather system sorted
timing sorted

pretty upset I had to buy a laptop to set the car up but hey ho its sorted now and if I ever have a problem I can data log or check via the laptop.

the car feels great in low boost! I haven't had time/road to check it out in high yet but no rush. 100% feels better smoother with the Gtr coils

so iv actually been driving the car I don't feel so guilty now its blazing sunshine.

firstly I attended a airfield with a temporary drag strip which runs on rolling start basis to the line (20+ mph) then flat out over 700m runway. randomly I met a guy called piers with a cool r33 Gtr with a Paul walker theme. although don't think this is a chaved up car he smoked me on the first run by a cars length. but the next 3 runs I let him have high boost anyway he's a really cool guy his car runs and performs great and we had 4 races in total. his car had a heap of rare parts which was nice to see not just a stock 33 with Paul stripes.

then simply Japanese happened! that was a pretty decent day, I didn't get a second to myself everyone wanted to know about the car, kids were sat in it adults too, I had a really god time and even picked up some hardware. what a treat!

also iv been on the lookout for some new mats since I bought the car and randomly some came up super cheap so I snapped them up. genuine Nismo mats

hope you enjoy the pics
