KR650 Opinions and experiences

Hello all,

As above what are your opinions on the KR650 kit/map from knight racer. I hear people saying “they make carbon fibre why would you let them map your car” yet there are so many GTR’s running this set up with the famous pops and bangs which I’m not interested in personally.

Is anyone running this map and what are your experiences if so? I had some work carried out by Albert on my GTR and all I can say is I was more than pleased with the work and service I recieved.

Thanks guys and sorry if this subject has been covered.

i have driven one mapped by them, and my own 4.25 car

the power delivery is not linear, it is a thump in the back, it seems to take a while to get the boost up and when it does it comes as a surge rather than a smooth increase in power...

depends what you want mate.

Cant deny his prices, they are incredibly competitive for a stage 4.25, and his carbon stuff is okay too.

Depends, I just prefer my car to be tuned by tuners, not modifiers...

Interesting about the power delivery, would be good to drive both.

My mind is far from being made up. I usually go by if something if too cheap then it’s too good to be true. There has to be a reason these maps are cheap but yet I’m not hearing horror stories? I haven’t read anywhere these maps have caused issues, I know the pops and bangs can cause turbo housings to crack but personally it’s not something I would use.

Thanks for the reply.

Had version 5 racerom in my 4.25 car that had a KR map
Had a few issues with boost spike, put the car on the dyno and the graph was all over the place with rubbish AFR
This was rectified at sRD tuning where it was remotely mapped by linney

Alberts prices are great though, and carbon fiber is decent but like I said I only changed to linney direct as I was having issues with my map and went race rom 7 in the end and now it's all fixed, car was put back on dyno and the graph is a piece of art, on the road it is relentless

I understand Litchfield and what they are about, I routinely take my car there for servicing there is no doubt in my mind they are one of the best companies out there.

It is interesting to explore the market and see peoples opinions on other companies, a lot of people are using the KR650 that's why I was interested.

Litchfields charge a hefty premium against other companies, no doubt because well.. they can.. and the facilities and resources are fantastic

Guys afaik Albert does not map the cars, Ben Linney does, arguably Ben may have mapped the most GTR's in the world as he is big in the states and Europe, he is VERY well respected as a tuner. Albert is doing nothing dissimilar to Kaiser when they use a Litchfield map, both 'agents' will log the car and send back to the tuner for revision, Ian and Ben can prob do this in their sleep but every tuner in the world will have a base map for the popular stages of tune in CBA, DBA and EBA, these are prob very close to the finished article and Ian, Ben etc will have put a lot of time into developing their own map, these guys are extremely skilled in their art and all have a different style/way of tuning.
I know Dimitri has spent many many hours developing his base map on the dyno in Greece and in over 30,000 KM in his own GTR, Im sure Ian and Ben have put the same R & D in as proved by their reputations.
Juice, Kieranrob and SKNAM like this.

When i first purchased my R35 it went there for the 4.25 conversion along with my business partners GTR at the same time
Big mistake

They broke the indicator removing the bumper to install the intakes, the clips on the intake hoses weren't even there upon subsequent inspection by another company, they had used an impact wrench to tighten up the locking wheel nut on the spacers they fitted and I had to have the studs cut off with an oxyacetylene torch which meant new hubs on the rear, the other guy had issues as well with cheap carbon parts which delaminated after weeks.

The piss poor map, smoke, crap throttle response etc etc, I know the map is done by Linney but its a remote jobbie.

If you like pops and bangs and having your car ****ed then by all means go hear, im one of many people in a closed group who have had issues with Albert and KR, subsequent emails and calls to KR ended in radio silence, ended up costing me more to have it put right.

You only have to visit the place to see what a run down hole it is.

I'm sure there are some happy customers but I know of at least six that are not

Questionable customer service too, went there last year to purchase a rear wing, but the agreed cash price jumped up.
Needless to say I didn't purchase, as no justification given, so I walked away.

Another +1 for Litchfield here.

They have just upgraded the software on my car to Ecutek Version 7 and remotely mapped the car. It drives excellent both on and off boost...

Their customer service has also been brilliant and can't recommend them enough.
