10 Years In The Making!!

10 years ago when the first GTR's hit the UK roads I was 17, just got my licence and said to myself I need one of them. First one I seen was a Kuro Black 09 and I immediately fell in love.

Over the last decade other manufacturers have had a crack at beating the GTR and some have, but for me it was never a question of if but when i would get into one.

Happy to say that after many years of working, getting a house etc, I have put a deposit down on a lovely Katsuka Orange MY17 with 5000 miles and the lovely (imo) tan interior.

Picking her up on Friday and not so surprisingly I dont know how to pass the time! I cant sleep, and when I do I dream of collection day. Am I sad? Possibly.

Just need to sort the insurance out which is where I would like to ask fellow owners who they are with. I live in the North East and am 27 years old, 8 years ncb, no convictions/points etc currently getting quotes around £1500. Is this normal or excessive? Dont mind paying it of course just dont want to have my pants pulled down.

Coming from a Golf R MK7 pushing 420hp, it's safe to say I'm in for a surprise.

Hope to be a helpful part of the GTR community, you'll always know I will come out with the strangest questions, please dont be afraid to put me in my place!

Keeping the faith for 10 years is very impressive:bowdown1: Stunning cars. They make some weird noises at times but so rewarding to own.

Iím an olí git (55) so insurance is pretty cheap for me. Costs me £420 with Admiral.

Had mine a month I got quote of £675 from pace ward. Similar to you 26 year old, 8 ncd I was quite surprised how cheap it was Iím not gunna lie ha. Sometimes pays to ring the specialist companies who arenít on the comparison websites [emoji106]

Took delivery of my first R35 GT-R on 11th May 2009. Had five since and loved them all.

Each one has been lovingly cared for by a chap I know near Tewkesbury:smokin:

Congratulations. I like you have been obsessed every since they came out and was fortunate enough to buy one last year and I promise you it is even better than you have dreamed of!! I am 35 and with Paceward, 3 points and live in Bedfordshire, I pay 1k for insurance.

I'm not a happy lad right now.

Just been told it has not had its first service.

Optimisation was done at 1200 which is fine then it didn't have the 1st year service but has had the second year service this March at 5000 miles.

I'm assuming this is not right? Should I walk away?

Monster GTR 7th May 2019 12:48 PM

I had exactly that with my 59 plate back in the day as it wasn't being used and hence missed it. Was every 6 months service then though. I would want some price adjustment. Trouble for you is that I don't think there are many Orange cars with the tan leather, most are black, so to find another maybe hard.
Annoys me how people have these cars and miss services.
You sure its been missed and not just updated in the book?
Only you can decide. I was like you and so excited but everything else stacked up so went ahead. Nissan honoured warranty and paid out two claims. This could be a problem though if it was a big component claim.

Yeah well it's from Nissan Lincoln and they are saying it definitely hasn't had 1st service but only done 5000 miles so should be okay. Had the second year one recently though which is the bigger service I think.

I would really like the orange with tan so seriously struggling to know what I want to do. Would a price adjustment or asking for another year of warranty as Nissan could reject warranty claim be the way forward?

Think the missed service will affect the residual value and possible difficulty with resale at a later date with most prospective buyers asking the same questions you are nonetheless the orange with tan leather is a rare occurrence so it might be a case of the lesser of two principle

davej51 7th May 2019 02:52 PM

the fact it has gone 2 years without a service would annoy me however if it is a car you plan on keeping for a long time then I would negotiate a small reduction in price, get some sort of written guarantee that the manufacturer warranty is not void and get it brought!

New update on the car will post asap just need to confirm before posting.

SHRS92 7th May 2019 04:19 PM

So just had a phone call from the dealer saying it was in fact optimised and serviced at the same time at the start of June 2018 ( a little late but at 1900 miles. This was done by Middlehurst and I have just called to confirm with them and they said yes they were done together here and I can send the service book for it to be stamped. So happy days!!
