My knuckle

Hi,
Ive just had a full set of alcon discs and pads fitted to my 2010 gtr, when removing the 2 large bolts holding on the front caliper, one was seized and snapped off in the aluminium knuckle meaning i now need a new knuckle, this is where it gets complicated as ive been told its going to take up to six weeks to get a new one,its got to come from japan so wont be driving it for a while!!.Has anyone on here had a similar problem happen to them and if so did you manage to get it fixed sooner or know someone who has contacts for the part?

Surely you can get it drilled out or something quicker than that? Failing that there must be plenty of breakers around that will have the part

unfortunately not,the knuckle is made of aluminium and the bolt is steel, hence why they corrode, also the bolt dosent go right through so can only be got at from one direction,i wouldent contemplate putting a second hand one on, not knowing the history of the part

bolt

I know dudersvr (john) on here uses a guy he calls in the drill and re tap studs/bolts. He goes around in a van with all sorts off stuff, so im sure even it being Ali it could be a possability to try find somebody up by your self and at least ask the question . Thats what id do. Good luck and hope you get it sorted sooner than a 6 week wait mate.

Get the hub off, centre punch middle of the bolt and drill a pilot hole in it.

Get a can of worth rost off and fill the hole with it.

Use left hand stud extractor and you should be good to go.

Alternative is to give me £250 for a used hub.

Be careful with Nissan's "on back-order" estimates - car I had before my GT-R was a Murano Z51 and the alternator went - 4 weeks turned into 10 weeks. Mind you at £1400 incl. new serpentine belt and fitting, it wasn't any fun anyway you looked at it

I've ordered parts for my GT-R from USA Nissan dealers before and they typically cost less than the UK price (and that's after delivery costs and import charges etc etc). Always arrived in less than 10 days, typically 6-8 so might be worth a try if you have the Nissan part number and put into Google.
