Scottish GTR wannabie

Hello everybody,
Been reading this forum for a few weeks now so I have made up a list of questions and observations that should enable me to buy a GTR.

1. Almost every GTR Iíve looked at has been to Litchfields at some point in its life. Its a 700mile round trip for me. Do people transport there GTRís there? I know Nobles in Edinburgh do servicing but there is one or two peeps on here who wont go near them.

2. My budget is 40-45k. There are plenty of pre 2011 cars around but want a post 2011. There seems to be a bit of a lack of 2012 to 2015 for some reason. Tried to get a 2015 for £45k but just a bit low and dealers not interested in moving on their prices!!

3. Daytona Blue is my colour choice which does limit the cars available.

4. In my experience cars with modifications generally donít get their money back. It is seen as a nice to have.

5. Ive seen 2 blue ones....
litchfield 4.25 2011 23k miles....£42k or a 2015 with 50k miles just a y pipe £48500. Any opinions?

Its also pretty good that the mot history tells a story.....one on auto-trader has three wheels that have been welded

Hope u can help.

Al

ACSpeedtech are a good bit closer to us Jocks, not worth driving further to LM when Andy and Alan are as great as they are.

Welcome to the forum

I have used Nobles for the last three services and I have found their customer service to be great. They also deal with Litchfield so is you want any parts they can order them and have them fitted but they won't do any mapping.

For tuning use JM Imports which is Newcastle and I recently had an intercooler and a remap from them. Jurgen is a spot on and they can help you out if you want to go for a massive build or just a general service.

I have used Litchfield in the past but I find it just a bit of a drive

The two cars that you mentioned I would personally go for the 2011 model as it has lower millage as long as the car is in good condition and good service history. If you are planning on tuning it doesn't really matter which DBA model you go for but the 2015 will have the thunderbolt head lights

Any competent mechanic can fix them. Only benefit to travelling to a specialist is the stamp in service book.

Hi I use jm imports bear Newcastle for years now. If you stay standard nobles are good but if you go down modification route best go to specialist like jm acspeedtech Litchfield’s . Where are you based if you want a look around a Daytona blue car let me know

Thanks for your replys. Good to know I have options for servicing closer to home.

Whats the consensus with regard to high number of owners cars? Again is it down to service history and condition? Do people seem to offload them b4 a big service is due? Scratch the itch then move on?

It will be a weekend car for me so mileage will not being going up daily.

All current blue cars are more than 300 miles away! I guess I must be pretty sure it is the right car b4 i book flights!

you can always pay for owner to take it to a specialist and they will give you a report on the car. Will be much the same price as flight but could save a lot of time. I have bought two gtr's this way. Got a specialist to inspect them before i purchased car, I covered cost inspection and travel costs.

Wow never thought of that....but makes good sense. If the owner has nothing to hide then there should be no problems especially if it has a full litchfield history.

Top advice

If it has full Litchfield service history and Litchfield inspect it you can get warranty for around £1500 depending on year details are on their website

I took mine once a year down to Litchfields for a service and warranty check. But any other service before or after track days I used folk who Litchfields were happy with me using to keep warranty etc.

So if the advert states a full service history by Litchfields then every year it should come with a heath report. This should alert the owner if there is anything on its way out. That seems like an inspection report every year.

Any thoughts on this? Not quite sure why its had its gearbox rebuilt and ap brakes fitted as it has standard engine. Might need to check the small print on the warranty they are supplying

They have a good name in the GTR community, ap brakes are awesome and not unusual for upgrades on box. Looks a good car!

No it could be standard or stage 1 most likely standard as Nissan warranty still valid if not mapped

I bought mine from Nobles and return annually for the service (over 400 mile round trip)
Great service from the team.
Also had a Y pipe fitted before collection by Nobles (car was new) - sounds far better than stock
