Small cracks on front rotors

I bet most of you if not all have expierenced this.
So my question is how small cracks are ok?
or even the smallest cracks are too big?
Is there a better aftermarket allternative for OEM brakes when not doing tracking at all?

yea the oem rotors all develop cracks from the holes, mainly from heavy braking. as long as those cracks don't get too big your fine, just keep an eye on the discs.

some of the preferred choices of discs are ap, alcon, dba. those don't crack under normal use.

Hi,
My oem front discs ended up cracking but mostly the reason was the change to upgraded pads which were mx72"s, these were not suited to the discs and quickly over heated them,one or two stops from high speed was all that was needed to cause them to grumble badly,the holes in the oem discs fill up with pad material and create gas build up behind the pad which only gets worse with more pressure on the pedal.Ive since upgraded both the front and rears with Alcons and Ds2500 pads and the difference is light years,pedal feel is excellent and very progressive,even on a track event i done recently,one more thing, my car used to pass the MOT fine with small cracks but you will need to change them eventually,peace of mind as well really, £2500 should do the buisness!!

What pad do you prefer, Endless or Ferodo?
Are the Endless any better in terms of dust and noise?

Been pricing them up this week and there's not much in it.

Ds2500 pads are great for fast road use. It may mean washing the wheels regularly if you use the car a lot though.
Well worth posting some pics up of the disks as its difficult to comment on without seeing how bad they are?

The endless pads produce very little dust compared to the ferodos,my endless mx72 were far too hard for the oem discs,the ferodos will probably ware out quicker but have much more feel and are a good match for the alcon discs,dont get any squealing or grumbling with them either.

Fine surface cracks are normal and will actually go if you ran a oxy torch over them.

Mine is 8 years old, 35k miles on the original brakes and there are no cracks on mine either.
