Front Lower Wishbone bushes

hi all,

had an inspection carried out on my car, and the mechanic pointed out the bushes on the front lower wishbones, are very worn. The ones at the back.

However, according to his purchase system, you can only buy the complete arms @ £549.99 each ! and I need two, plus labour..
which seems ridiculous.

my question is - does anyone sell these bushes separately, or are there any after market ones available ?

thanks

Nick

Hi Nick

The rear bushes crack and squeeking is an early sign of them going. You have to buy brand new arms or Litchfields sell there version of the bush which alters the geometry for a supposed better drive.
I have a set of used ones and I think a solo drivers side.

Hi,
I don't have any "sqeeking" as such.. just a slight knock under the car, under the drivers side wheel it seems, when going over bumps..
funny thing is, only happens when it is cold. after a couple of miles it disappears. as if the bush somehow expands... but pretty sure none of them are oil filled.

if you have a drivers side you want too sell.. I would be keen depending on price of course :-)

the b5 A4 used to do creak and knock over bumps when the lower bushes failed as well. The only solution for that was complete new arms.

i am not sure its that....

there is no creeking or noise like that. the "knock" feels like its under my feet, and disappears after about a mile or so of driving..

Brand new pair on eBay right now. £579 a pair, not each.

Yeah, the listing title implies its for both but then says you only get one in the main ad Looks like another expensive part to buy if you can't get just the bushing itself

tried to buy these and similar... they are from Larkspeed - or at leas they were.

they sent me an email apologising, cancelled the sale and sent me a refund.

said they no longer sell these as litchfields have the exclusive rights.
and so then the price doubled !

Really common issue to have the rear bushes fail. Changing to aftermarket ones is a massive improvement in not only the geometry when taking advantage of the extra caster addition/anti dive but also in the fact the wheels won't tramp for and back in the arch under hard braking.
We use the Superpro ones, massively superior material for such an application (and being able to bond it to metal means you can use an offset bush instead of having to remanufacture the whole mount. They are £187 plus vat.

I would remove the arms and check the condition of the ball joints first.
