Its great. Ive had mine fitted for around a month.

One piece of advice - When choosing your code (Rab will tell you what buttons are available) think carefully. Some buttons are not available straight away and require the Info System to have booted.

This doesn't seem much but when you're used to jumping in the car and starting it immediately waiting for a few seconds before you can input the code can seem a lifetime. Especially when you get it wrong and have to turn the car off and start again.

Hi David new install, the software is even better than the ghost one for certain cars, for the gtr it's just had one or two minor tweaks nothing drastically noticeable. Ghost one is perfectly fine if you have one fitted.

So what’s the difference between v1.0 and 2.0 with regards end user experience/interaction on the GTR?

One or two extra buttons on the car abit quicker on response, its mainly better on the German cars and now can do single wire can cars, the chip on board has more memory for larger files for extra features on certain vehicles no spectacular difference to be honest. Gtr owners won't see any difference because of can system on the car is very simple compared to something like a merc, audi and BMW.

I was interested in Ghost II as it has ability to link to mobile phone for auto deactivation as well as using button sequence. I do have original - you relocated the chip for me when you fitted my dash cams.

Hi David as much as id like to do your work and take some dosh off ya, i highly recommend no one uses the Bluetooth phone app to disable the ghost... Worst idea ever, because if A. They nick your phone and keys thats the end of the ghost, and B. If the car is within Range of the phone for example the phone is in the front room of your home and the car is by the bay window it can still disam the ghost, so totally defeats the object.

Yep- all that I understand - there is, however, another point of view.

Imagine being approached when near to the car and being "invited" to handover your keys. Same person then says - "Start it up so I know it isn't alarmed/locked". If you have Ghost 1, you disarm the unit, which said person will see you do (the impact/operation of Ghost is by now well known to the crim fraternity!) and could well "invite" you to tell him the button sequence. Once he has that off he trots with car! Same scenario possible should someone break in to your home!

Now consider having Ghost 2. Same "invitation" (either at home or elsewhere). You can say "No alarm or electronic lock" - get in the car and start it up using normal START button. Your new "best friend" thanks you for your kindness and strolls off with the car. When he eventually decides to stop it - ooo look - it won't re-start.

True he may also make off with your phone, but you are no worse off than in the original scenario.

From my understanding, you can stop the Ghost 2 running in the background when at home (or anywhere else should you choose) and only re-enable it when its convenient.

Just an alternate view and still tempted to upgrade.

David

Yes there is that scenario but unfortunately most people don't get jacked and key cloning and signal boosting is still the highest form of car theft and that's where the ghost is more useful if the code sequence is used rather than Bluetooth off your phone, most thieving scum bags will steal your keys, wallet and phone so that's why i don't recommend using the Bluetooth app way. If you want to your most welcome to come down and have the ghost 2 installed...its always a pleasure to see you my friend.
