Can any fuel be used ?

I suggest AG Race Fuel for the top speed run.

All street legal i'd say, otherwise we'll just see people strapping jet engines in the boot soon

I also want a TYRE SPONSER, 07730 813455
Glen you can arrange the track brunters or whatever and the official timing gear if you would as you have the contacts and we can do it soon in the new year on a dry windless sunny day,
I would treat this as the second stage of development, and then I think a longer run would be nessesary to see when it stops acellerating
what do ya think

Yeah no probs Gary. I'll get on the case after New Year and will probably try and get a few guys with the right cars to attend as well. Be nice to keep the numbers down.

It won't be an open day, it'll probably be a closed shop, and I doubt the venue/date will be advertised as like Gary says its a dangerous/pretty stressful day and the last time we done it with a handful of cars it was nice to just chill a bit .

The people I'll contact (or who contact me) will be asked about magazine coverage for the event. OK a mag will probably pay for the day but are we really bothered about them being their or not as costs will be shared between participants so won't exactly break the bank????

Deano I take you'll be game mate?

Glen

As for the location...

I remember the video of the McLaren F1 doing 241MPH, and the video of Tiff Needell breaking the record for highest average speed on a track (also McLaren F1), maybe those locations might be of interest?

With a magazine / media sponsor, this could be arranged, perhaps?

Cheers
Simon

If mine falls in that group I'll come along.

When Deano's car was still in Scotland it did over 210mph indicated on several occasions which a good bit to go!

For the top speed runs the cars had a bit more smoothed off shape to reduce drag.

Same day, same conditions, same equipment would give a more accurate result though.

I used to have quite a bit of info and pictures of your car. A friend of mine does a lot of work for Greersport and so I saw your car a few times. He was in it during a wee high speed test and said the rate at which it went from 150 (crusing speed) to over 200mph was beyond belief!

Sadly I lost most of the pictures and stuff I had collected thanks to a dodgy IBM hard drive which decided to die on me. Anoying as i had good pictures of the aerodynamic enhancemets they made for the top speed runs.

I'll look and see if i can find any more info for you and email it over.

The Jun Bonneville car was not any kind of streetable car. It was fast , but not something anyone would drive.

I would prefer to look at something at least streetable

Veilside did ~346 km/hr in NZ in their R34.

Blitz did ~343 km/hr in Germany in their R34.

The Blitz R348 was really not anything that special. I would say that during its top speed runs it wasnt much more than 800 horsepower.

At high . high speeds... its not all about hp . Its aerodynamics.

GT-R's are bricks....

At high speed the horsepower required to go faster is exponential.

But the point is it holds the fastest top speed ever achieved by a GTR
which is the whole point of the thread

Aerodynamics

Is the R34 much more slippery than the R33?

I remember that the R33 has a cd of 0.35 compared to 0.40 of the R32 though the R33 has a larger frontal area than the 32, thus offsetting some/all of that advantage.

How does the R34 compare?
