thats on my plans too.... boot mounted on pins with all the hinge work gone. Need it on pins (not locked) for TA once the fuel gubbins goes in the boot.

Hugh.

Yup, I can see your cage keeping everything solid, but if I was to do it I dont have as much faith in Keiths old bolt in cage haha

Adam,

Agreed, Keith's bolt in cage will not give the rigiditity of a weld in jobbie.

David,

Rear parcel shelf is no more, new firewall in place.

Cheers

Hugh

felixy69,

Find me some nice carbon doors at reasonable money and I will let you know where I got it from.

Adam,

I do not have any more pictures of it.

I will be thinnish sheet though as there is no need for it to be anything else.

Cheers

Hugh

Don't think of weight as an absolute. Rather treat it per component. If you remove 50% of the material from a bolt you have saved 50% of the mass of that component.

wise words
seems mainly it's a question of pecking away and removing small amounts from everywhere, as opposed to individual big items
and i'm forming the view that it can be more expensive to improve your power to weight ratio by losing weight than by adding more power!
(not that that's going to prevent me)

I made my seat mounts pretty much as low as humanly possible and the seats too low .....
Im just over 6 foot in old speak.
I think I might pack it up about 50mm and I will clear the roof but might just rub helmet on the top rh side.
My Momo cups mount underneath , not on the side.
I have a serious rollcage in my car.

Pretty sure We have 2 4wd goddys here (drag cars)that weigh under 1150kgs
might be wrong .
They do stuff like remove all the steelwork inside the bumbers etc:
I need that shit , my cars a road car
lol

now THAT'S a good question

be very interesting to compare weights instead of power outputs/quarter mile times

what do you reckon you weigh then, george?

from your previous comments (and on track performance) i'd guess you're right up there setting the pace?

Not to sure what it will weigh when I have finished it. It's hard to put a weight on it tbh, last year I had the interior stripped & removed the heater, but then I had the extra weight of a roll cage, bigger clutch, turbo, roll bar etc.

I am concentrating on weight loss this time though, aswell as power & handling. I predict it is going to be very light!

As far as setting the pace, not to sure about that, I have only been on the track 5 time now

Good question that Hugh

I just don't know and don't want to make any predictions. All I can say is as light as I can.

What about you Hugh, what weight are you hoping for?

George,

Never weighed my car so do not know.

You hear figures like the Avance drag car that claimed 1040kg, but I have no idea other than to expect something more than that.

I guess it will be 1150kg + driver (90 kg) which could do with being less.

Will be interesting to see.

Cheers

Hugh

HKS R33 GT-R weighs in at 980kg,

Power was just under 1000hp.......

Although it has an airshifter and pro driver when it ran its 7sec passes, shows you what times are capable when the cars get this light.

It's alright with all these quotes, is there proof to backup the weight up ?

Your right Hugh it will be intersting, I really have no idea at all just hope I am not dissapointed. it would be nice to build a super light one but with track cars you still need to maintain a good level of rigidness. When you aiming to have yours finished?

Adam, start exploring the car you can find plenty of stuff to remove to help get the weight down a bit.

I have been out running everynight since new year, lost plenty off me !!

George,

The work on my car seems to have stalled meantime, but I will try and push Danny next week.

My R34 goes down to Rods at the middle of the month to get the engine and box pulled, not sure if it is getting any work done before it gets slotted into the R32.

Cheers

Hugh
