you aiming to try and get entry to single TA events Hugh?

Any ideas on the weight of a std (or standard size at least) skyline battery? Swapping over to a 5kg gell racing battery...

Adam,

I will have to see what events are possible once the car is finished, but I have alot of work to do, not least is to wire it from scratch.

Don't know how much you will save on a battery, but any saving is good. I use an Odyssey 680.

Cheers

Hugh

well..... its pretty simple.

Removed all that wasnt needed. It has no aircon, heating, sound deadning, all obsolete (not all but a lot) wiring cut out. Tiny racing gell battery

Couple of questions if you dont mind buddy, how did you remove the sound deadening material? (the thick black stuff)
and how does this effect the road noise, (if you've driven it yet of course )
Looking great!

we dont really drive it on the road, its a trackcar.... but yes, it is quite loud inside. Mostly its stones just hitting the bottom but the general noise is a fair bit higher, and it is quite booomy with nothing to deaden noise like the carpet/roof lining etc

Most of it was removed with a hot air gun, scraper and some solvent to clean. Other parts were just chipped off with a chisel. Stubborn bits like the seams/corners were attacked with a wire brush drill bit.

Did a bit more work on it this afternoon. Removed the heater matrix and linked the coolant pipes. Coverded up all the holes in the bulkhead (aircon and heater matrix pipes) with sheet metal.

How much did the bitumen weigh? trying to rack my brains for anything else other than the heater matrix that weighs a lot.

What about the bootlid, is that particularly heavy on 32's?
Just weighed my bootlid, its 10kg's with the lock and badge.
The original spoiler weighs 6.5kg's ao almost as heavy as the whole boot itself! (gonna get me one of them Newera CF ones me thinks!)

Thought i would bring this thread back up, I weighed an R32GTR door yesterday, 23KG, all electrics but no door card or wing mirror so i would guess close to 30KG complete Curious to know if there is a Fibre glass/Carbon option that retain's the window mechcaism? Preferably on a wind up handle, anyone?

I have seen carbon fiber made front bumper forcement for R32 which looked amazing.
I don't know how much lighter but reducing overhang weight will help a lot for turning.
You maybe not using STD forcement but forcement should be some what easy to make with FRP.

Doorcards are in the 7kgs.

Is the door from an early R32 or is it a late?

The wing mirrors are also quite heavy for their size, about 2kg.

As for the rear wiper motor, I could swear when I removed mine it felt alot more than 1.5kg! I would have thought 3-4kg. I will find mine and weigh it.

Just realize I have seen NSX electrical power steering pump on R32 & R33 GT-R few years ago.
Many of car now days have std electrical power steering pump, so it's probably a lot easier to try now days.
Anyone tried??????

stupid question, but i suppose you've taken the spare wheel out? that weights ~10kg. i remember seeing a track skyline that had a complete carbon bodykit, stripped out etc. but the kerb weight was still 1300kg or there-abouts. if i find it on web, i'll post a link.
