The biggest problem for weight on the GTR is the engine and box, If I fitted an EVO engine & box into my GTR it would be under the 1000kg. I have removed everything and more, there are so many savings you can make, it all depends how far you want to go, if you want to lose a road car and have a track/compition car then go for it !!
Ash you have done the right thing splitting your power steering pump, I have done the same, I'd have a single over an electric all day long ![]()

Awesome thread Adam..
I have copied and pasted all the neat idea's into a word pad and plan on doing many.. ATM my car has no motor in it (rebuild), so have been ditching as much weight as possible. -Air con (havn't pulled apart dash yet) -Hicas, have left the rear rack/ steering assembly until I get a lock bar. But have ditched all the lines running from rear to front with the splitter under plenum. -Stripped boot -Planning on having spare doors, boot and perhaps bonnet all gutted for track work.. -Stripping sound deadening but plan on keeping carpet The only problem now is, I don't know where to stop the car is my pride and joy and I enjoy driving it on the street .. therefore need it sane, pass Road worthy's etc.. Where do I stop? lol.. Anyone in here serious with there 32's weight loss but still have road car plans? oh .. and can I remove the whole rear steering rack when ditching the rest of hicas or do i need to keep it there and just fit the lock bar? Cheers

Tomek I still drive mine on the road but it aint pleasant with the sound deadning and carpet removed. It gets so bloody hot inside. I have got some heat reflective blanket I am going to stick above the gearbox underneath the car to see if that helps. Ill let you know the results as its unbearable at the moment. I have also wrapped the exhaust and turbos but its still very hot. I have a vented bonnet to fit soon which should help.
The heat problem is the only bad thing, apart from the perspex windows popping out at the top and flapping and whistling at speed (this really pisses me off). I love driving mine on the road (especially at 4am on Sunday Mornings when its cool for the engine to produce power and plenty of bikers who like a thrashing!).

im planning on ditching the abs system, any one done that here?
everytime i open the hood my eyes looks directly to that ugly abs-shitpump or wtf it is. so im thinking of getting rid off it, must save some weight also. i dont think i will have any use off the abs system on my car either, real race cars dont have abs right?=)

Thanks for the reply.. Not too concerned with the noise and heat issue's overly, more concerned about police/ registration trouble. As id like to ditch my rear wiper and motor, etc etc.. Surely this will get me into strife..

BUT Losing that weight is a major 'free' gain.

On losing weight i have ditched the complete GTR body shell and fitted a RB26 engine & RB25 gearbox in a 1970 240Z.

I see a few pages back that some folks have removed the original parcel shelf and std 'firewall'. I'm in the process of fabricating a aluminium firewall for mine and was toying with cutting out the original lot and replacing it rather then covering it in alu.
To those that have removed the original shelf...the boxes underneath the parcel shelf, did you refit them to the new shelf in the std position or do something else with them?? TT
