Intrested in getting a GTR and the spec is as follows:

15k miles with full history

10 Plate
Full history
No tax
Black Edition
Kuro Black.

I really like the car but is the mileage too high? I do about 5k miles a year and would probably sell after 1.5yrs.

It's going for £42k

What month 10 plate?
Mines May 10, now done 13.5K mostly motorway ~2 days per week work dd, weekend and event visit toy. ~8K/yr bit less than "average" glass's 12k for eg.

Looks a reasonable figure if early 10 plate imo worst case will be Aug 10? ~ 11.5K/yr still not a lot really

Milage and age almost exactly the same as mine.
I'd say 42k is about right, but always nice if you can haggle a bit off. :)

15k is not a lot of miles IMO. A lower milage one will cost you more, so what you save on purchase price now you lose on sale price in the future.
It will look a fair amount, as some people buy a GT-R and then don't use it, so you do see very low mlage ones for sale.

Tyres and brakes are the expensive parts that start to need doing around the age/milage of your car. Figure £1500 for each, more if you want Nissan stuff.
So they need to be good on a purchase or it adds a lot to the car.

Other than that, do a forum search, there are quite a few threads started by new members and helpful suggestiosn what to check. :thumbsup:

I thought about buying one for 6 months, but when I did the deed I was so glad I did.

As long as the service history is present and correct and the car has been looked after, it does not really matter about milage. 15K - the car has barely been broken in. :D

I thought about buying one for 6 months, but when I did the deed I was so glad I did.
The car has about 4mm on each tyre and the last service was done at about 13100 miles in September this year.

Is there a major difference between a MY 09 59 plate and a MY 10 plate?

I can get a 19,100 miles 59 plate for £40k that's just had it service done.

I'd rather have the 10 plate with less miles. £2000 is not a lot in GT-R terms and you get more warranty. Plus it'll be worth extra when you come to sell.
No there is not a major difference, but I like the USB and sat-nav. Which most 59 plate cars seem to also have. Extra period of warranty time is nice though.

On a good day you could haggle the 10 plate down to £40/41k anyway. :D

would say it's a bit high depending on how you value mileage, plate, black edition. You can get a FSH late 2010, 60 plate, premium ultimate silver with 5,600 miles for less than £46k

15K is not excessive and if you are only doing 5k a year then when you sell it in say 2 years time it'll have 25K on the clock instead of 15K if you went for a low miler now. A low miler may cost you and extra 5 grand and when you sell it you wouldnt get that back maybe 1 grand extra.

In 6 months time youd be happy to have the extra ££££££££ in your pocket

I have just bought one today with 22k on the clock, new tyres, discs and pads, 09 Black, full history, 2nd last service done at Litchfeilds!!!

It will be going back there very soon for a re-amp!!

I think if its got a good history it will be fine, i dont do alot of miles anyway :)

22k sounds low to me. Mine's 18K miles on a 59 but that'll reduce (relatively), as I only complete around 3K a year.

My previous car was a BMW M6 and i thought that was expensive. This one is on a different league in terms of cost

I hear what you're saying, but if i have to service the car, get new tyres and also tax the car then it would become an expensive 10 plate.

Yes it was a bit more (can't remember exactly but maybe a couple of grand) for which you got the darker wheels, red bits of trim on the gear knob, door handles, seats and kuro black as a colour option. Memory a bit shaky but sure someone else will chime in if I've said something daft.

15k isn't big mileage by any stretch, people can go a little Bit OTT on what the clock says, modern cars are built to last and if properly maintained will last a lot longer then what most people consider high usage, the GTR is proving very reliable there are quiet a few high mileage examples in the states, I would be more concerned with determining the usage the car has had, original tyres, pads and disc condition etc, although to be honest even this can be misleading as an enthusiast that tracks his car but looks after it to their upmost is better than a weekend toy that's abused by a owner that really couldn't care less.
