Greetings, having read through the 6pages of the forum relating to this topic, Valet Magic were kind enough to fit the appropriate wiring, so I could have these after burner lights visible all the time and when foot on brake, enable the innner ring to shine brighter. However still looking where there is an effective kit/wiring that enables the rear side strips to become additional lighting, seen some of these done in the US on Youtube, any ideas and kits would be useful, thanks :)

the USDM cars are different and when you brake all 4 illuminate. No kit is required for them.

Yes mine also now with kit illuminates all four, my query is with the side reflectors on rear of GTR, they've been illuminated also by other owners. I'll try and post a pic.

As an addendum to my original post containing the schematics and with a big thanks to ossie cossie for figuring out the correct (180ohm) resistor value, the following diagram gives the correct wiring to allow all four tail lights as sidelights; brakes lights remain high intensity on the two inner (original) lights and the third high level spoiler light, plus optionally operate as four brake lights (with outers at normal intensity) when the sidelights are switched off:

Bit of advice during installation - the plugs undo easily once the retainer is unclipped, press down on the central retainer with a small (4mm) flat blade screwdriver then pull the harness out:

Standard connector pinout - I used 1N4001 diodes. The feed from the brake lights to the tails lights (diodes A & B for four brake lights with sidelights off, which is optional) is already spliced:
standard connector pinout_w.jpg

Now the brake light feed is cut ready to splice in the 180ohm metal film resistor and diodes C & D:

Heat shrink insulates and supports the soldered in components - it is only a few pence and much better than insulation tape. Cut to length and borrow your Mrs. hairdryer to shrink:

@Protegimus... That's interesting - when you put a third diode in to get 12v to the tail light on braking, I'm assuming that lights the tail light at its normal intensity? I didn't do that when I was making up the wiring, as I thought it would look odd. If in fact the tail light is lighting up at the same intensity as the brake light when the pedal is pressed then the car's wiring is not quite how I'd imagined it.

I think there must be either a resistance (maybe also about 180 ohms) built in to the loom of the light cluster for the tail light, or the tail light LEDs have lower output at 12v. Either way, what makes the tail light less bright than the brake light at full voltage is distal to the connector from the car loom to the light cluster. Hence why getting all four(five) lights lit under braking requires modification to the lights themselves, which is a ballache. If I'm wrong on that let me know, as I'll dive back in and plumb in another diode!

You're right Andrew the cluster must have additional control on the normal tail lights. As is, with sidelights off braking illuminates all four tail lights; however only the inner original plus high level lights are high intensity. I preferred the effect so left it that way.
Not sure I fancy opening up that cluster.

spiceykam: what you want to achieve should be easy as you have access to the inside of the side reflectors with only the rear panel out. They are transparent so you'd only have to test illuminating them with a red LED bulb if you didn't want to go as far as obtaining US reflectors.

4 LED Rear Side Reflector_Lights

Thanks Protegimus, please see an example side refelctor LED lights, when it comes fitting I'll get Valet Magic a call, they know their stuff when it comes to detailing/cosmetic :)
