Hi.

am building a RB25 series 1 engine. have changed rod bolts to ARP VG30, but afterwards learned thread was too short.. :-(

Can I use hardened washers under nut head to compensate for the too short thread? ARP make connecting rod washers....

If yes, does anyone know how hard the ARP ones are, because I can make my own. (also test for correct hardness)

Rod bolts are so cheap why **** around ....
I used 300z bolts in my RB26 ..!
Anyway , just hardness test a head bolt washer and make yours the same as that , I would guess 38 / 52rc or something.
Personally I would through them out and spend $150 on a new set.
