Hi, does anyone have any recent experience of Marshalls, in particular whether they do a decent job on the reversing sensors? The salesman warned me that they looked crap when I last visited in the Summer so I was wondering whether the finish has been improved.

The other items on the extras list that I might consider: Car cover, mats, paint protection - any comments on these would be helpful.

Thanks very much.

I've seen them on several cars and didnt think they were too offensive, but that said, I wouldnt have them on mine.

The other bits you mentioned arent really extras per se, mats are a must IMHO as it keeps the carpet in good nick, and the cover just depends upon your parking situation I suppose.

BTW the GTROC has a cover, and it may be worthwhile comparing prices with the one your HPC is offering.

Paintshield or similar is something I wished I'd gotten at delivery as I have several stone chips on the bonnet. The paint does seem rather soft.

Thanks for your comments. I don't think i'll bother with a cover as the car will be garaged, but will look at the GTROC one if I change my mind. Sounds like paint shield is worth getting - having to pay for mats seems like a joke on a £50k+ car as they are obviously a neccessity as you say. The HPC are going to send me some pictures hopefully so I can make a decision on the sensors.

Dont bother with the parking sensors unless you giving it too the misses to drive in which case they proberly wont help anyway (hope i havent offended any1).

Get the mats and thats about it from the dealer.

You may want to get the car detailed, if your paintwork is soft, like mine on the black edition i will post pics later.

Paint film protection is a must but its cheaper if you go directly to the paint protection company rather then from the dealer as they have their own mark up.

I had the paint protection applied from Marshalls.

Total waste of time IMO going by the swirls I now have. Basically they are under pressure to flog it as head office make £50 on each one.
Mats are good value though. The parking sensors are the same as a 350Z and are overpriced but am still considering it.

How are you finding Marshalls now that 3 of their GTR staff have recently left?

Mats are a must. I had reversing sensors put on mine and they did a good job. I also had paint protection and it was a waste of time IMO. It does help when washing the car but does not protect from stone chips. I have at least 6 chips on my car - I would go for a protective film instead. I had my windows tinted at a local company for half the price Marshalls were charging! As for changes, I was in there yesterday and did not recogonise anyone. Have Phil and David gone?

Yep, Dave and Phil have gone as well as Laura, the GTR service lady. I'm there on the 30th so I'll see who the new people are

It would be good to know the current position. I'm still waiting for Satnav manuals after being told they were on their way some weeks ago. My emails to Phil on this haven't been responded to . Doesn't seem to be anyone else picking up his mail and i have no idea who's running it now. Since Dave and Phil went, they have a bit to live up to.

When I ordered my car from Middlehurst last month they had quite a few ready for delivery. I checked to see what the parking sensors looked like (since I definitely wanted them fitted) - it seems inbetween the centre disc and outer ring on each sensor there is a gap which exposes a grey area. So on a black car they look fine since the gap is dark, but on say a red one you can notice the grey ring since only the centre cap and outer ring get painted red.

To be honest though none of these parking sensors usually look good - the ones on my M3 dont have this gap but are indented in to the bumpers rather than the GT-R's which sit on the surface (so they look a lot more obvious). The fact is - you'd rather have them than a big dent on that huge rear bumper!

As for the mats, I was shocked at the lack of flexibility Marshalls had on the car pricing. They wouldn't even throw in £100 mats on a £60k car - so I ordered it from someone else.

On the plus side Phil there was great - very enthusiastic and knew the answer to virtually every question I asked him on the test drive.

Shame it appears Phil has gone - it would have been nice for Marshalls to have updated their customers and tell us who the sales specialist is now!!

I don't suppose you have a close-up photo of your sensors that you could post please? You get used to having these things so I think I need them, but I dont want to ruin the look of the car.

The rear sensors are barking mad! When reversing you get the Nissan reversing bleep (akin to reversing an artic) plus the sensors kicking off at anything within 5 metres! All very funny though....and they do keep you alert! Mats are a must and don't waste your money on "paint protection". Dealers love it. Huge profit margin and you'd never know if its been done or not!

Cheers - agreed on the paint protection, although I would like to get it treated by someone so need to find a detailer in Essex. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

My car is due in less than 2 weeks and I have tried in vain to speak to the people at Marshalls on several occasions. These guys just don't return phone calls which I find immensely aggravating! I've been on the edge of cancelling on a few occasions due to the shoddy service and despite knowing this it continues to this day as the car's delivery approaches, these guys are unreal..

I have the sensors and the look is fine but the noise is too loud and they are over sensitive. Front ones were offered initially too but never got final approval from Nissan.

However if you love cars don't cancel! The response time seems to be part of the package.

Not sure what extras I am going for when I take deliver sometime next year (from Marshalls).

When we bought the (Golf) R32 for my GF the dealer was offering the paint protection for £799.99. We said we would think about it and let him know. Our very good friend who lives next door came round to see the car and he said right away not to pay £799.99. He works for a BMW garage and said for us to just bring it in one weekend. Took it in one Saturday and £40 later it was done! £20 for the amount of product used and £20 for the guy who applied it - as he stayed after work.

I already mention about the GTR to him and he said it's fine to bring it. However he did also say that it does not do much!:nervous: So not sure if I would take it?!

My step dad has that clear sheet on his car (like car clingfilm) and that seems to be holding up great and no more stone chips since he had it done.

Hi mate! I left in September, haven't been doing an awful lot to be honest, but getting a bit bored of that now, so I'm looking for a job. I think there are about 5 of my staff left there now, which is a shame as we had a really good team there. Phil is now working for an insurance company and I think Laura is working next door to Nissan in Citroen. There is a new GT-R specialist so I'm told, but I don't know his name I'm afraid.
