What do the two vents either side of the radiator opening do?

I noticed the one on the offside appears to be vented through a grill towards the brake but the one on the nearside is blocked off.

One is oil cooler other does nothing I believe....?

Having only owned mine for a couple of weeks, I noticed this to the N/S one 'I think' while washing it!

Is this the modification Mr Nissan made to lower gearbox/transmission temps over the MY09 GTRs?

Is it possible to open the other side for even more cooling?

The n/s one is perfect for a GoPro sticky mount

Yep, one side is the oil cooling, other side is blocked off and behind caintains the washer fluid bottle etc, but you csn fit a transmission cooler there, such as HKS, Forge etc. its the same on all the my09-14 cars. Although from my11+ various underbody ducts have been added to aid cooling.
