Has anyone done this recently to an R32GTR?

My aircon is working well, but i was wondering:

How complicated is it to do?

Does it require any additional replacement parts?

How much weight does it save, is it worth it???

I did this on my 300, but only because it was allready nackered.
On the skyline i decided to leave it on untill its nackered then remove.

First off, its best to get it degassed properly.

Once you remove the front end condensor, all the pipes and crap, and the compressor itself with any belt tensioners you can save a fair bit of weight.

I only got rid of my 300 one the other day or i could have told you the weight.

Mark.

P.S. you also get some extra room and a less cluttered bay

Thanks for the reply....:)

Fortunately my dad is able to 'de-gas' the system. I'm thinking it's only worth it if i can save something over 25kgs.

I'll be thinking it over :D

I've removed all mine from an R33. Don't think it weighs as much as 25Kg's, perhaps 15.
you will miss it in the summer, so unless your building a track car, is it worth it?

De-gas, loosen one of the pipes (firewall), and then leave it to vent out for a while.

Hmmmm, i'm gonna have to give this some thought.

It works very well so may wait until it breaks, especially if it doesn't save much weight.

Thanks,

M
