After much delibertaion during my first year of ownership, I finally purchased an Akra exhaust and Cobb thingy off the forum to start (and complete?) my tuning journey. I finally got round to having them fitted last time I was at home (the exhaust was a thing of beauty and was close to becoming an ornament in the house!) along with some K&N air filters and getting the car mapped - must say excellent service received by Calum and his team at Checkpoint Garage in Arbroath and huge thanks to Sam (The Dentist) for the mapping.

The exhaust note is now pure automotive porn, especially under load when the throttle is being applied but especially happy with it being fairly 'quiet' on a continuous throttle - in fact I'd go as far as to say that it is quieter in the cabin than the stock exhaust was, certainly less boomy... However, that has just highlighted the road/tyre noise to me even more! I'm hoping some MPSS will help in that department when the tyres are due to be renewed...

The mapping side is a dark art as far as I'm concerned but Sam has done a great job (no hesitation or excessive black smoke) and I now have 4x maps installed - actuator pressure for valet's etc, 15psi, 17psi and 19psi. Must say that on the 19psi setting the car is quite a bit more squirmy on the move i.e. traction control light on an awful lot more exiting corners :runaway: It is fine for the short periods of time I drive the car but am thinking about choosing one of the other maps for more day to day running. My goal was never to be power hungry, I just wanted to make it sound better. I have no idea on how much the power or torque have increased (if at all) but I can tell you there is a lot more mid range punch available now

Just thought I'd post up as I was a long time in denial about moving away from stock and then getting myself so confused with exhausts and the various options out there. Eventually I succumbed to the titanium bling of the Akra and a hope that it wasn't going to make the car enjoyable to drive by being too intrusive or boomy. To say I'm delighted at how the car drives and sounds is an understatement. I will endeavour to get some noise clips posted in due course ;)

The system I bought did - but that was second hand. I'm not sure what options are available buying direct but there are various distributors for them - although a quick search popped up this: Akrapovi?

The carbon tips look kinda stealthy on my car....

OK Cool....just wanted to check what system Moochofun was running and it sounds like the results i was looking for....Manic top end, but more rumble across the rev range, but not as much drone on constant throttle.

So i better start saving !!
