I have been reading up, am i right to say that the Albins gearbox is the best choice for a road car. I read its one of the quietest , thinking 900 bhp ish build. Whats a rough cost for a built box that will work well with 900bhp.

Think JM imports fitted one to a R34 so might be worth sending them a email to ask for mor info.

Albins are generally seen as the more quite gearkit, on the cost side of things you have to determine how far you want to go.

It does’nt just stop with a gearkit, you need an updated clutch For that power. You could go as far as billet shift forks etc

I suppose the goal is 900, so clutch change is required. Do I get any change out of 10k
Maybe enough for a full tank of gas if you want to do it properly full gearset and dillet 1st and input with later synchros and shift rings, you should not need billet forks IMO but spend the money on a decent clutch, IMO Extreme Performance are only ones to fit as well as their circlip set 14 plate will do 16 plate you are future proofed because now you only want 900 the 1000 then 1100 etc. Lastly only person I would trust to build that in the UK is AC Speedtech.

My car's currently with Litchfield for some more mods including a gearbox build with their 16 plate clutch pack and full Dodson gear set with the trimmings. A bit of change from £10k.

I don’t think your getting a full gear set at 10k. You will get 1-6 gear set but no secondary shaft and drop gears.

Stock drop gears are pretty strong, id think about those at 1000+ and if your going to launch it on a strip.

I have PPG V3 1 through 6 gear set in my car, with standard drop gears and a Linney clutch.

I have 1025 Wheel HP, so over 1200 engine BHP.

No issues so far when launching at TOTB etc.

4th gear has a little noise due to it being more straight cut than the other gears, but it's background noise rather in your face noise.

Albins, from what I have heard is quieter, not sure about the strength aspect.

High tensile material, plus small production volumes make this a specialist manufacturer domain.

There are a number of supplier options, so my guess is that if it was possible to produce components cheaper and retain the required strength, you would see this reflected in the offerings.
