Hi guyss


I currently have the auto.torque 600/stage 3 package which includes the following ......

Ecutek remap
Full miltek exhaust system
Y pipe
Hi flow k & n air filters AT 80MM MAF intakes and housings

If i add downpipes and ansu injectors to stage 4.25 will i have to upgrade the gearbox as well ? Circlip upgradea gear.stops.etc ?

I have spoken with a garage for a price has anyone just went to stage 4.25 and is.it worth.thr extra bang for buck ?

Mainly wanting downpipes for a better grumble noise on exhaust note ..has anyone installed downpipes and remappped without larger injectors or gearbox upgrades ?

At the level you are bigger injectors gives your map headroom safety so the ecu can ensure you never run lean. Swapping injectors is a simpler job than the downpipes and imho is a necessary step for engine safety and future proofing.

Downpipes help to reduce exhaust back pressure to get an earlier spoil as well as reducing engine bay temps. Disadvantage is a much louder exhaust and a smell of petrol as the primary cats help remove unburnt fuel.

At this level of tune your tuner should recommend pulling some timing in order to keep torque to a safer 600lbsft. This isn't to nanny the transmission but to protect the stock rods.

That said there isn't a magic line below which you are safe. Increase torque and power and you increase the risk of failure both in the trans and the engine. There are plenty of cars running stage 4.25 with no issues as well as a fair few that have had trans failures and engine failures. There are plenty of cars that have had a variety of trans failures even at stock levels too.

It's a simple equation of increasing power increases risk.

He did say they keep torque no greater than 610lbsft

Im not so sure i want the increased risk by upping the power slightly then ...i may just stick to what i have for a while although i do fancy the downpipes lol :chairshot

Why not change the exhaust if you just want a better rumble as the Miltek is fairly quiet compared to most? (I have it but love the exhaust note as its not too loud)

Yeah that could be a shout in future ...im going to go for the injectors and downpipes when the next service is due :) i think i need the extra power / tune to make it go better lol iv been on sports bikes last 10 years so always comparing to them...just typical boys n there toys wamting to add stuff haha mrs will love me whenever she finds out :runaway:
