Just in case you are uncertain, the car has auto-focussing headlights, not auto-levelling. In other words the bulb unit focuses on the small circular indentation(s) in the glass of the headlight unit.
If yours are set too high, then the whole unit needs to be adjusted.
I think it depends on the terminology. I remember some cars (citroens?) with auto-levelling lights where they adjusted for loading/unloading the boot.
However, I think the generally accepted implementation is for them to auto level (or whatever) within the headlight unit. This means if the headlight unit is out, it has to be adjusted (I've got the procedure somewhere for the Z!). I dont believe levelling as the vehicle load changes is a requirement.
And I may have used the wrong terminology (who me?) but if the drivers of opposing vehicles are flashing then it sounds like some adjustment of the unit is in order (surprised they get time to flash!).
