hi have just completed engine rebuild and sent my gtr r33 vspec to a clutch specialist for a new clutch gave them strict instructions not to run the car as has not even done 30 miles on new engine! went to pick it up and they had to jump start it as the battery had gone flat? it would barely run when they fired it up black smoke poured out the exhaust and it wouldn't rev past 2500 without dying noticed the lights flikering so checked to find battery still disconected with car running :( now it will barely run when cold and stops completely when hot has the ecu been fried or is there something left disconnectd?????

I guess this will also depend on if you are running a stock ECU or other.

It maybe worhtwhile to leave the battery disconnected overnight and reconnect in the morning.

Hi disconnected at the moment local nissan say they can't access the ecu they are unsure whether it is standard? ill check in the morning
one more thing there is a t piece from the fuel reg on the inlet manifold which runs to a small black box with trust on it then a single wire disappears through the bulkhead any ideas what it is? presumably you can alter the pressure but i cant find a controller in the car?

have you got a boost/intercooler hose off somewhere mate ? that normally results in mass over fuelling and tons of black smoke etc just as you describe... sounds to me like a hose is off !

cheers pl kettle your suggestion was correct main intercooler hose was off obviously when they let the engine down to remove the gearbox it pulled off but now it runs fine although tick over is about 1200 rpm and sometimes missfires on light application of the throttle if you put your foot down it clears and runs ok?????
