Grooved discs can promote squeal, and WILL wear pads faster. Carbon based pads are usually made for performance, not silence. Anti squeal shims may fix it, but can give a noticeably softer pedal, especially if you have braided hoses fitted. Bendix sell a proper anti squeal gloop (blue in colour) that doesn't migrate like Copperslip can.

i had the same problem, try to get plenty of heat into them heavy late breaking etc (obviously not in this weather:eek:) it seemed to sort my squeal out. it does come back now and again but a few sharp jabs sorts it

In my experience, the more heat a set of pads / discs can handle, the noisier they are when cold.

Once the snow disappears and you can get some decent speeds up, then the brakes will get hot and the squeal will go away.
