Ok guys, here are all of the details for saturday 16th March......

The meet (if you didn't know already), is being held at the Bolney Stage pub in Sussex. A very basic map is on my website http://www.myselector.freeserve.co.uk at the bottom of the JapUKMeets section.

The start time of the meet is ** 11.30am ** - no sooner. The idea is simply turn up, park up, and socialise. There is a bar menu at the pub so food is readily available (i do not know whether they are putting a roast on - i believe this will be a late decision).

We have the pub reserved for us.....so we shouldn't have too many old dears turning up and complaining that they can't park their bentley in the car park (i'm sure there'll be one or two who forget).

Parking is going to be "controlled". This means that both entrances will be shut until 11.30 (at 11.30am both entrances will be opened, and will remain that way for the rest of the day). Roughly 5 or 6 cars of each make will be waved into the carpark. I will do what i can to make it those numbers, but if one or two more go through, so be it. I'm just after a nice mix as i believe it'll look much better - and will be fair for all involved. My apologies If you are not waved into the carpark, with these sorts of numbers, i can't please everyone. Also, if you are waved through to the carpark, there's a chance you'll be asked to park on the grass verges (at the front of the carpark and directly in front of the pub).....We will try and get the cars in as quickly as possible so that there isn't too much of a tailback...i don't want cars stretching onto the A23 as this will get the police on our backs. So just because you're at the front, doesn't guarantee you will be in the carpark. It depends how quickly people drive in !

Once the carpark is full, no one will be waved in or re-directed. It should be fairly obvious by then that there is no space left in the carpark. Those that turn up late and try and get in, will need to park elsewhere. I'm sure everyone will realise what's going on !

On the road parking - there are NO parking restrictions on this road. Use the grassverges, and line the edges of the road. All is available for us to use (the road stretches a long way, and i'm sure we'll need it). I believe there are one or two resident property's at the top end of the road (the pub end), so please try and avoid parking directly in front of these (i'd rather you parked down the other way).

Nobody needs to show what their car is capable of (during the day, or when they leave). Everyone at this meet will know what each of the other cars is capable of doing. Be sensible...anyone showing their cars capabilities (be that flyby's, burnouts (!), doughnuts (!!)) will be asked to leave. There may well be a police presence (and if not, i'm sure they'll drive through every now and then), so by performing any of these things, you could get nicked ! Remember, this is a residentual area....(i've included this as i'm trying to ensure everyone knows the score. I already know that you guys will not doing anything like this....)

We have several features / articles being done on the day. Steve is coming down with some of the guys from Fast Car mag to do a nice big feature, Japanese performance will be there doing a feature of the day and looking for future feature cars and a Sussex County paper may be there. Additionally (although i haven't heard anymore about this), Meridian TV may well be there to do a news report for Meridian News. If they are, i'm sure they'll try and talk to a few people...hopefully we'll come across well.

With regards to the weather (!!!), this meet will go ahead rain or shine. I'm sure it'll put one or two off, but seeing as it's at a pub, no-one need think it'll be cancelled. I'd love to see a massive turnout rain or shine. If it's bright n sunny - all the better....

This looks like it will be the biggest of the JapUKMeets so far (with over 265 cars already down to attend). Let's enjoy it eh.

I look forward to seeing you all there - Get polishing those motors !!!

(Hope i haven't missed anything !!!).

Cheers,
Daz

Daz,

Do you know what time the meet will go on until as I may be late.
going to have my rear tracking in pieces as I've worn out knuckle joint and my rear wheel steering is all over the place like a mad womans shit.

Hopefully I'll be able to get there for about 2 o'clock....

I must get it sorted on Saturday as a week Friday is bedford and there is quite a scary shimmy at 120 mph, bedford has a few straights significantly faster than this.

hope to see you on Saturday if not have a good 'un.

Steve mate,

I think it ran well on into the afternoon last time. I left somewhere between 3 and 4pm and there were still LOADS of cars there. I reckon it'll go on until at least then (as long as the weather is still ok).

EMail me your mobile number and then on the day send me a text message when you're about to come down, i'll let you know what the score is so you know whether to come along or not...

Cheers,
Daz

A bit more info from the pub....

Hi Guys,

Just got off the phone to the landlord of the pub....

He confirmed he has spoken to the Police - and has a "incident report number". This means everything about the day is logged, and the police know exactly what's going on. They WILL drive through a few times to keep an eye on things (and were told they were invited to coming along), but other than that, they aren't concerned about the event. They know roughly the size of the meet, and confirmed there are no parking restrictions on the road. So effectively, we have police "approval".

He also confirmed he has informed the Mid Sussex County Times newspaper about the day - apparently they are putting something in their paper to say the event is on, and should be sending a photographer down on saturday.

Also, because of numbers, he is doing a special menu for us - food he can cook to order basically (so, baguettes, steaks, etc.). The prices for these have been reduced from their usual prices as a special deal for us - showing once again, that they are going out of their way for us.

See you all saturday.

Cheers Glen mate,

Hopefully all the planning and effort i've put will mean a great day - i really hope everyone enjoys themselves.

Fingers crossed for good weather (it hasn't been great so far this week), and hopefully no-one will do anything daft on the day.

With the number of cars we should have, it should be an amazing day.....

Not long now.......

Drive Sensibly

Hi guys,

I know I don't need to tell you this, but please drive sensibly on saturday.

I've been told that the police are "attending" in unmarked Japanese motors in non-uniform.

I don't have a problem with this, and have always welcomed their attendance - it will ensure that everyone is sensible on the day.

I know you guys aren't stupid, but I just wanted you to all know the score. I know how easy it can be to get slightly carried away when you are part of a big convoy of powerful cars.

Seeyou all soon,
Daz

I'd need a hell of tent to cover all this lot :D

I've been keeping an eye on all the weather forecasts....it'll definately be a dull day (overcast). I reckon there will be a shower or two, but hopefully that'll be it - i don't think we're in for a downpour until the evening or night (typically, they are saying sunday should be nice 'n dry !).

Anyway, regardless, it won't put me off going. I've been to plenty of meets before where it's been a bit damp. Hopefully it won't put too many people off (akthough i'm sure one or two will leave it if it rains).

I'll have to get a little cover for me digi-cam just in case. :D Get cleaning those Skylines...I aim to get plenty of snaps (Joss i'll forward them on to you and you can decide whether to put them on the register or not).

Not sure how long my photo's will take before they are available...my new PC has been delayed until next week - so no USB access at the moment....i don't fancy transferring 100's of pictures by 1.4mb disc from my old mans PC to mine !

Good on you Daz.
I shall be there with both my Digicam (128MB + 16MB) and also my camcorder.

Looking forward to it.

For those that are interested, here is the WEATHER REPORT for Bolney.

You can check it as we get closer to the day, suffice to say, it isn't looking good. :(

Nice one Cem - i'm thinknig of popping into town and buying a camcorder for this. Want to have something on video as well as all my photo's. Am only thinking of something low end (around 350 quid).

I'll check that weather site you posted.......

Hi Guys,

For those of you who have never been to Bolney before, or are coming down on your own and not in a convoy, and aren't too sure where you're going.....

Go to multimap.com and type this destination postcode in to the maps and directions system.

RH17 5RL

This will show you where the place is, so you can plan your route.

Sorry the weather ain't so wonderful - that one's out of my control though :)

Seeya tomorrow !

slow silver

Come on guys, leave the man alone, hes had enough stick I think:D

Its not his fault he bought the wrong colour, they didnt say in the brochure about power loss on silver cars.

As I already mentioned to Glen, the silver cars were made by a YTS workforce on thier lunchbreak whilst the Bayside Blue ones were made by Mr Nissan himself in the confines on his own garage at home. Its in the small print if you check;)

Do we have to stop at Clacket lane tomorrow then or wot?, anyone want to meet up as we will not stop there otherwise.

See you all tommorow, bring your wetgear!

Rupert and Myself !

Daz,

Rupert and I are picking up his car from Abbey tommorow at approx 11:30 / 12 ish, depending on how hammered we get tonight :D

Are we going to have have difficulty getting in to the car park - as I don't fancy walking for 1/2 mile in the rain

Just wondering as there is A LOT of interest, in yet another successful meet !

Do you think that it may have calmed down a bit after 1ish .... Just wondering .

Regards,

Paul
