Ok guys, here are all of the details for saturday 16th March......
The meet (if you didn't know already), is being held at the Bolney Stage pub in Sussex. A very basic map is on my website http://www.myselector.freeserve.co.uk at the bottom of the JapUKMeets section.
The start time of the meet is ** 11.30am ** - no sooner. The idea is simply turn up, park up, and socialise. There is a bar menu at the pub so food is readily available (i do not know whether they are putting a roast on - i believe this will be a late decision).
We have the pub reserved for us.....so we shouldn't have too many old dears turning up and complaining that they can't park their bentley in the car park (i'm sure there'll be one or two who forget).
Parking is going to be "controlled". This means that both entrances will be shut until 11.30 (at 11.30am both entrances will be opened, and will remain that way for the rest of the day). Roughly 5 or 6 cars of each make will be waved into the carpark. I will do what i can to make it those numbers, but if one or two more go through, so be it. I'm just after a nice mix as i believe it'll look much better - and will be fair for all involved. My apologies If you are not waved into the carpark, with these sorts of numbers, i can't please everyone. Also, if you are waved through to the carpark, there's a chance you'll be asked to park on the grass verges (at the front of the carpark and directly in front of the pub).....We will try and get the cars in as quickly as possible so that there isn't too much of a tailback...i don't want cars stretching onto the A23 as this will get the police on our backs. So just because you're at the front, doesn't guarantee you will be in the carpark. It depends how quickly people drive in !
Once the carpark is full, no one will be waved in or re-directed. It should be fairly obvious by then that there is no space left in the carpark. Those that turn up late and try and get in, will need to park elsewhere. I'm sure everyone will realise what's going on !
On the road parking - there are NO parking restrictions on this road. Use the grassverges, and line the edges of the road. All is available for us to use (the road stretches a long way, and i'm sure we'll need it). I believe there are one or two resident property's at the top end of the road (the pub end), so please try and avoid parking directly in front of these (i'd rather you parked down the other way).
Nobody needs to show what their car is capable of (during the day, or when they leave). Everyone at this meet will know what each of the other cars is capable of doing. Be sensible...anyone showing their cars capabilities (be that flyby's, burnouts (!), doughnuts (!!)) will be asked to leave. There may well be a police presence (and if not, i'm sure they'll drive through every now and then), so by performing any of these things, you could get nicked ! Remember, this is a residentual area....(i've included this as i'm trying to ensure everyone knows the score. I already know that you guys will not doing anything like this....)
We have several features / articles being done on the day. Steve is coming down with some of the guys from Fast Car mag to do a nice big feature, Japanese performance will be there doing a feature of the day and looking for future feature cars and a Sussex County paper may be there. Additionally (although i haven't heard anymore about this), Meridian TV may well be there to do a news report for Meridian News. If they are, i'm sure they'll try and talk to a few people...hopefully we'll come across well.
With regards to the weather (!!!), this meet will go ahead rain or shine. I'm sure it'll put one or two off, but seeing as it's at a pub, no-one need think it'll be cancelled. I'd love to see a massive turnout rain or shine. If it's bright n sunny - all the better....
This looks like it will be the biggest of the JapUKMeets so far (with over 265 cars already down to attend). Let's enjoy it eh.
I look forward to seeing you all there - Get polishing those motors !!!
(Hope i haven't missed anything !!!).
Cheers,
Daz
