Anyone explain what differences they make to the engine?

Say if I was going to go for an increase in capacity of the RB26 from 2.6l to 2.8l, how would it change the power and torque if I just went for enlarged bore or just a longer stroke or a bit of both?

As far as I know the general idea is:

Increase bore --> more power but at high rpm
Increase stroke --> more power from lower rpm

From what I've read on the Net, it seems there isn't that much 'space' in the RB26 engine block to open up the bores. Furthermore, increasing the stroke of the engine limits its ability for sustained high revs.

Best to let the real experts advise you on what to get (HKS 2.8/Jun 2.7/OS Giken 3.0).

OS Giken reliability

You could ask Michael (username R777MTD), he runs one, although I haven't seen him on the board in ages.

The engine must be fairly reliable as he took part in this year's Gumball rally across the USA.

Look at my post (and Guy's) in the 'Max bhp' thread in tuning section.

BTW, don't sroke it much (if at all) do as much of the displacement increase as possible by bore increase.
