How do you take the cam position sensor gasket out and is it reuseable?
I am about to paint my cover! finally got it off!!

What does the cam position sensor actually do.. besides the obvious!! does this alter the timing if moved??

ah you again ....unplug sensor mark the sensor housing with paint where the bolt goes though for reference later. then take all three out and carefully pull the cam sensor out. it has a dog/peg on the end so when you come to replace just aline the peg/dog with the cam end and push back in. the turn the housing until it lines up with your old mark..bernie

Got all that Bernie.. and fine.. Now I need to know how to get the gasket off if possible? and if it's ok to re-use? I hope so!!

Then what does the sensor do? control ignition timing? i.e will I advance or retard the ignition if I move it?

Yes it adjusts the ignition timing.

You can try and reuse the gasket. Shouldn't be too much of a problem, as long as it hasn't been removed many times before.

Although it does get brittle due to the heat. So be careful on removal
