I have been offered a good price on a Toad and a GT Auto Alarm. I'm not entirely sure which one to go for as I get the impression that alarms only differentiate themselves on features rather than their ability to make your car relatively secure. Does anyone have either of these fitted to their car ?

I had a Clifford on my previous car but I'm wondering if it's really worth the extra money for the name, especially as I'm gonna have a tracking device installed as well.

Any thoughts / advice would be most welcome.

The word from people "in the know" is that the toad is hardest to bypass - I've had them on 3 cars now without a problem

Cat 1 Alarms

Talat

I have the Cat 1 GT Auto alarm. I couldn't recommend it for two reasons: lack of features and a tendency for it to get its knickers in a twist. Standing by the car for over 10 minutes with the alarm blaring whilst it goes through it's reset cycle is no joke. Especially at 08:00 on New Year's Day. (The neighbours have just started talking to be again) :)
It has happened on at least 4 occasions. I took it to a specialist who said that there is nothing wrong with the alarm or the install. Reasons I've been given range from electrical spikes to rogue tv remotes.

Regards
