Hi Chaps,

I have a CBA, the passenger door latching mechanism is dead, it has been looked at by a specialist, but the door is closed and cannot be opened.

Does anyone have experience with this issue and know how to dismantle the door enough to get to the latch mechanism from the inside?

I am reluctant to send this into a nismo centre, so if i could do it myself or anyone else could do it, i'd rather part with money that way.

Thanks

If it was looked at by a specialist why did’nt they sort it out?

It is quite a common problem, I’ve sold a few latches, no special tools required to change it. There’s probably a few you tube vids to help out.

The latches all appear to look the same from all years.

Good Luck

It wasn't on the itinerary of work it was booked in for, so they had a look and let me know it wasn't going to be possible without prep or longer service time.

I've tried checking out any guides on youtube, but I haven't been able to find a thing. I'm not particularly bother with destroying door cards, but i would want to know I wasn't going to leave myself snookered (with a door so knackered i cant use the car lol)

Are you a breaker/supplier Skint? Do you have a storefront online or just through PM?

Cheers :)

Hi buddy,

I had the same issue with my CBA on the drivers door, its normally not failed, just water ingress and corrosion. I got mine open with a piece of TIG welding wire, with the window fully down, and then dismantled the door, removed lock, cleaned, lubricated and worked it till it was operating smoothly and then reassembled. Its been fine since.

Where are you based?

Oh nice, I have seen another thread where somebody has had good luck on occasions by having two people go at the handles to tease it.

After reading that I may give it a go (I normally do everything myself with cars, but at the moment this is my only car whilst work is being done on other, so i dont want to make myself stranded haha)

Im in Huntingdonshire near Peterborough.

I guess a good helping of grease is what stop it from going shite again?

I will see if I can get you a pic of the lever you need to pull with a wire, it’s got a yellow plastic clip on it I think from memory.

I would give you a hand but unfortunately I’m all the way down in Devon

There you go, that’s my best attempt at photographing it with the window down.
That’s the main lever that seizes up.
Wire with a hook on the end hooked over the this bit and pull up should open the door for you.

I’m sure the plastic bit was yellow on my drivers door
